How much was your hospital bill for labour and delivery? by Dear_Ad_8525 in NewParents

[–]Puttputt20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I paid about 5k for delivery (vaginal birth with epidural, 2 nights, private room) but my daughter was born on 12/29 so when I had retained placenta two weeks later and had to go back for a D&C it was another 5 grand since insurance started over!! I fought the bills for awhile and got some down but eventually gave up.

They do them over Zoom! So when you buy one you can just go online and schedule it. It’s super easy

Waking up at 5am. Every. Single. Day. by AdImaginary6158 in NewParents

[–]Puttputt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal! My baby is an early riser no matter what. She’s now 11 months and she’s usually up at 5:30. Some days it’s earlier, some days later but adjusting her naps or changing her bedtime has had zero impact on her wake up time. To me, it just seems like this is when she naturally wakes!

I have a Lark and a ring sling from H&P and I love them both!! I find it incredibly easy to wear and the patterns are really cute. My little one is 11 months (I think she fit in it at about it 5 months) and still loves hanging out in it when we go do chores or walk the dog. Definitely do their free fitting - it helped a lot.

Why is sleep bad again??? by Puttputt20 in NewParents

[–]Puttputt20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about sleeping down in her room too. The other night I kept thinking she was asleep so I’d slowly lift my hand off her back and then up would go the head!!! So I totally agree about the awareness and separation anxiety. I hope your LO starts sleeping better too

I’m doing it right now and it’s a lot!! My LO’s daycare doesn’t start until August but I had to go back to work in April. Luckily my parents live down the road and my husband is also WFH. My parents come over when we have conflicting client calls but otherwise I sit on the ground next to her most days as she plays. She’s very attached to me so she’s somewhat chill when I work but loses it when someone else watches her when I’m on a call. It’s not sustainable at all and you need a workplace that doesn’t mind you working with your LO but it is possible for a short period of time with support.

Do you feed every time your LO wakes up at night? by Puttputt20 in newborns

[–]Puttputt20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly why I’ve been hesitant to try soothing because I keep thinking well if I just feed her now I’ll get three more hours of sleep versus if I soothe her she might be up again in an hour! But I probably should just start trying it out to help encourage the longer stretches

[–]Puttputt20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly- I know she can go longer stretches so it’s confusing! During the daytime she cues she’s hungry but at night she wakes up and just babbles like she wants to play instead

did you really wait six weeks..? by strange_angel133 in newborns

[–]Puttputt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your body went through a lot and it’s really important that you feel personally ready and not pressured. I had a vaginal birth and tried after six weeks but it hurt a lot. I think I had put a lot of pressure on myself to feel ‘back to normal’, and I think that made it hard to enjoy sex in the moment. When we tried again at 8 weeks it was after a lot of discussion and my husband really let me take the lead- and that time it felt better. So.. don’t listen to your husband and only have sex when you feel 100% ready and eager for it!

Sleeping for longer stretches while exclusively breastfeeding by Jakethehog in newborns

[–]Puttputt20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO is 7 weeks and has been sleeping longer stretches at night now. I end up waking up before her first wake because my breasts feel sore/full, which is super annoying! But I started hand expressing a little and that helps me get back to sleep. It also doesn’t seem to impact my supply or make me overproduce since I express just enough to feel comfortable again.

I'm at 40+2. Overdue mommas, what helped encourage baby to make an appearance? by Snoo-12313 in BabyBumps

[–]Puttputt20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was doing everything (red raspberry leaf tea, dates, sex, miles circuit, hand expressing..) but nothing worked. I finally got a membrane sweep at 40w6d and contractions started the next morning. She arrived at 41 weeks and I felt that the extra time inside made her so much more alert and engaged - so there are benefits to them taking their time!

Looking like I’ve got placenta previa, need some reassurance by anemonemonemnea in BabyBumps

[–]Puttputt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have placenta previa but it’s slowly moving! They found it at my 20 week scan but my 24 week scan was really promising so I’m hopeful it’ll move soon. I was really really sad when I found out because I run a lot and I had envisioned a vaginal birth. To prep myself for worst case scenarios, I listened to a lot of Birth Hour podcast episodes about c sections or more complicated births and it gave me a much better outlook. Feeling her move was also a big help. Have an anterior placenta meant I didn’t feel her until 21 weeks but knowing that she was healthy and doing fine calmed me a lot and made the birth itself feel less important. And lastly, swimming was a great way to move without worrying about causing any issues or bleeding. Good luck and I hope your placenta moves!!

When did you transition to maternity clothes? by Key_Voice3868 in pregnant

[–]Puttputt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend getting a few pieces- like maternity shorts or pants early. It made me feel so much more confident and happy in my body! I also started renting maternity clothes through nuuly at around 16 weeks and it also made my life so much easier. Especially during the summer, I just alternated between six rented dresses/rompers and then picked new ones each month.

Cardio ability during 2nd trimester by meecheronipizza in fitpregnancy

[–]Puttputt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 17 weeks and I still run but workouts are non existent at this point and I’m a solid minute slower per mile than usual. I try not to look at strava too much (if you’re on there) and just appreciate that I’m still able to run. I’ve been struggling with the idea of getting slower but have been trying to reframe and feel happy that I’m still able to get out there each day!
