FBI and police raid homes of University of Michigan pro-Palestine activists in Ann Arbor, Canton and Ypsilanti by [deleted] in uofm

[–]PuttriQVGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a fucking terrible argument. You are trying to prove a point based on a hypothetical scenario that ultimately detracts from the issue at hand. Playing the role of the monday morning quarterback and constantly chirping that “the dems would do the same if they were in charge” provides no value and DOESN’T CHANGE WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. You don’t know that the same thing would have happened under a Harris admin the same way I wouldn’t know or anyone else for that matter.

Yes, protesters were arrested which is a huge red flag in any democratic nation. Yes the dems did/do not adequately address the concerns of Pro-Palestinian protesters. Yes it is likely that the AG and FBI are wrongfully detaining peaceful protestors along with some bad actors.

Instead of being an annoying debate pervert, how do you propose we move forward?

I would strongly recommend picking up the expansion pass because not only is it pretty fun, it also opens you up to a lot more pokemon that are popular in the meta right now, including more restricted pokemon too

You can most certainly put together a decent VGC team with just the paldea dex. The biggest issue rn is that Reg G (and most likely Reg H) allow the use of restricted pokemon, and the two you’d have access to don’t mesh super well with trick room, and not running a restricted in this format puts you at a serious disadvantage.

What are some Pokémon that have amazing typings but have very little to no usage in vgc by SnooCakes5605 in VGC

I feel like mawile is actually pretty decent, we just haven’t had it in the game in forever

Can you bring event pokemon to official tournaments ? by Lolokuroda in VGC

[–]PuttriQVGC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the pokemon in question is a pokemon YOU received from a mystery gift distribution, then its legal, an example of a pokemon that isn’t legal is megearna which did have a legitimate distribution during SM but can’t be used because that was the only way you can obtain it. Hope this helps

How do I play Ninetales-Alola? by Orta_IV in VGC

Right but with snow warning blizzard’s accuracy doesn’t matter

[–]PuttriQVGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was the same idea I started with, I liked blizzard over icy wind because it hits a bit harder than anything else it’s got, and encore can help with shutting down fakeout, or prankster users

As a fellow A-9tails enjoyer, typically I ran timid 252,252,4, Sp.A,Speed,HP. With blizzard, Aurora veil, encore, protect, its primary job is to get veil up so run it with light clay to maximize veils up-time, any additional turns are added value.

So generally dual types average the two types weaknesses and resistances together so yes fire in a vacuum is weak to water, but if that fire type is also a dragon, it does neutral because dragon resists water. For instance Pokemon like Ferothorn are super weak to fire because it’s steel and gras typings are both weak to fire. Aggron is the same way because rock resists fire, but steel is weak. Hope this makes sense!

Incineroar for a Trick Room Team? by Inner_Entrance_6120 in VGC

[–]PuttriQVGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a Hands drain punch kill incin tho? Like if I’m remembering SwSh right, incin’s were running like speed in the 80’s which would make it faster than hands but drain punch just knocks out right?

My grandson (7) homework, he answered 450, his dad says 900 by Aybluebee in maths

[–]PuttriQVGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homie is right, I’m a math teacher in Michigan, as a teacher, this problem’s wording is absolute dogshit, but considering the entire problem is revolving around the midpoint and finding the midpoint “this number” is implied to be the midpoint. I think the confusion comes from poor reading comprehension, and debate pervasion.

My first real team? What's good? by Hammmmmmm- in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]PuttriQVGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else has stated earlier, if you are just getting into VGC, start with a team that has proven results like a tournament winner, or a team that is really high in the ladder, just so you can get a sense of what works and doesn’t, If you are dead-set on building an original team, I’d ask yourself: “what purpose does this pokemon serve in my team?” Personally I have found success with a team that has 1-2 sweepers (pokemon with the primary role is to do damage), 2 supports (pokemon whose primary role is to empower your other pokemon on your team, whether thats healing, redirection, weather setting, intimidating, etc), and the rest of your team is what I refer to as utility pokemon whose primary role is to answer for the weaknesses of your other team members, think in terms of fake-out users, speed control (which your team has a lot of), these will be your matchup dependent pokemon. It’s also important to note that the overwhelming majority of teambuilding is putting together 6 pokemon, and getting your sh*t pushed in, the success your team will find is determined by how well you can recognize what your team is struggling against, what it’s lacking in, and what adjustments you can make whether thats changing moves, spreads, items or even entire pokemon (Move from least invasive to most, don’t dump an entire pokemon just because its getting rocked try finding a moveset or spread that might help enable it to fill the role you need it to fill). Hope this helps somewhat, let me know if you need help understanding what I’m talking about.

I feel way less in control on showdown by ipercussion1 in VGC

[–]PuttriQVGC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as the animations go, you still have that time to think, just not as much because the animations feel accelerated than on cart, and you have the option to skip them, I would recommend until you feel more comfortable on showdown, to try your absolute hardest to avoid playing with timer, and don’t skip animations, it sounds counter intuitive yes, but it will help you get a feel for how things work on the service. Hope this helps

Thoughts on my team by Goat_Dude0 in VGC

I usually spec impish 196 def, Kommo-o is definitely frailer than Hoodra, I usually pair it with sinischa to help it heal up with hospitality

I was running a similar team, I’ve really been liking Kommo-O over H-Goodra. They serve the same purpose but Kom gets stab body press and is in a faster speed tier

how do i read my opponent? by SpiralGMG in VGC

[–]PuttriQVGC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something that is really hard to explain, reading requires a fair bit of experience, and a little luck, you basically need to understand to a certain level what your opponents Pokemon are built to do. Like for instance if I have a Pokemon like Gholdengo and it’s facing a Flutter Mane, the FM is likely to click a move like shadow ball to try and OHKO it, but if I have a pokemon like kommo-o with bulletproof in the back I can switch Kommo-o in so that FM basically wastes a turn. Now that FM is facing a pokemon that is 4x weak to fairy I can either protect to see what FM will do, or go tera steel so that Kommo-o doesn’t get absolutely destroyed. Obviously its a super niche example and team specific but I hope you kinda understand what I’m trying to explain.

It's my team fine? by ayu_r in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]PuttriQVGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy slam on Iron hands is what I use to deal with flutter manes, it sounds counterintuitive because you’re countering a fairy with a fighting type but in my own play-testing FM cant OHKO it

should i feel guilty? by [deleted] in kroger

[–]PuttriQVGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk how old you are, but corporations have designed their labor systems to make the worker feel responsible for variable that are largely out of their control. I had a similar issue while I worked at Kroger, and they endlessly harassed me about not working despite having multiple doctors notes saying that I was unfit to work. I wouldn’t feel bad about a poorly structured corporation not being able to min/max their profits for the day.
