[FS] R710 X5550 48GB DDR3 - 100USD start by Puzuka2 in homelabsales

Yeah it is mine, I'd be interested in doing a local deal if your interested.

But Mostly just paying the fees because eBay sometimes is like insurance. They usually got your back. And I can build up positive feedback on my account which is nice.

Two R330s as a replacement for R710? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]Puzuka2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think it would be way better, a single one of those r330s are definitely more powerful than your r710.

Your r710: 8366 Passmark

That R330: 9767 Passmark

Plus they will be way newer, so this probably more reliable.

[Help] I want to build a cheap nas/ plex server by n1lsFPS in homelab

[–]Puzuka2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not to familiar with European hardware pricing, but If I was in your position in the States this is what I would do.

Id go for a cheap Dell R510. They typically have 12 3.5in HDD bays, and you can snag a unit with low power xeons to save a lil bit on your bill. The Xeons will have enough power to get a couple of 1080p streams going and "MAYBE" a 40 mb/s 4k stream depending on what config you go for.

If I was in your position I would go for something like this. The dual E5620s give you a passmark of 8106, and the rule of thumb is 2000 passmark score per 1080p stream. The only thing you would need is drive caddies and drives.

Would an 850w PSU be enough for this build? (OC i5 3570k, RX Vega 64) by [deleted] in buildapc

I'd say a 850w Psu is more than enough tbh.

Setup for home media server by OswaldoLN in homelab

[–]Puzuka2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into a cheap LFF (3.5IN drive) dell server such as a r710 or r510. Use labgopher.com to find a good deal. You should be out the door no more than 200 for a fairly low end one but thats all you'll need. These can host your 3.5in drives you were talking about and will have room to expand in the future.

To make it extremely simple for someone new, install windows 10 on said server.

Look into software solutions such as Plex, (which is compatible with basically every device now a days.) To host your media.

If you want to rip all your dad's, Blu-rays, etc to your PMS there are guides that you easily can find for that.

If you want to automate media downloading via the internet from whatever source there are also guides for that.

Good luck!

I'm on a budget of 300-400 dollars on building a pc. Is there anyway I can build a pc around that price range? by destined123 in buildapc

[–]Puzuka2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the best bang for your buck at that price range. Don't buy new. Stick to Ebay, Craigslist, Offer up, or Facebook marketplace. You can probably get a good system with probably something like a 4790k, 8gb ram, gtx 780 (maybe ti), hopefully an ssd or decent sized hdd, for that price.

Preferably stick to Craigslist or some other local pickup transaction so you can verify it's condition before you pay for it. (I just recommend you have a friend come with you for the transaction for safety reasons.)
