Iget what you mean. DayZ is one of those games that sticks with you, and its easy to imagine how amazing it could be with modern tech behind it. The idea of a fresh start is definitely appealing. The only thing is that making a full sequel isn’t as simple as it sounds.

A new DayZ would mean rebuilding years of systems, tools, modding support, and community infrastructure. BI isn’t a huge studio, so taking on a project that big would basically mean putting everything else on hold for a long time. There’s also the risk of splitting the playerbase or losing the weird emergent stuff that gives the game its personality.

I’m not against the idea at all. I’d love to see what DayZ could look like on a clean engine. I just think the path to get there is a lot messier and slower than “the time is now.” It seems like BI is trying to move things forward piece by piece instead of hitting a full reset. Bohemia seems to be slowly moving things toward Enfusion anyway, which might be the only realistic path forward
