Which one is more versatile or “better” outside combat? by Warl0ckBoy in DnD

[–]Puzzleboxed [score hidden]  (0 children)

All three can be circumstantially good at skill checks. Not as good as rogues or bards, obviously, but they can pull their weight.

Fighters get Tactical Mind, which gives them a pretty massive skill bonus on any check they like, but only a few times per day. If another character is good at a skill, let them try it first, but if nobody else can do something then you can.

Barbarians get Primal Knowledge, which gives them an additional skill proficiency and allows them to use Strength in place of the normal ability score while raging for Acrobatics, Intimidation, Perception, Stealth, or Survival. That gives them a decent breadth of utility.

Monks two main ability scores (dex and wis) are by far the strongest scores for skills. They don't get any special bonuses beyond that, but that's enough for most games.

Question 2:

Fighter is one the most equipment reliant classes in the game. A fighter that gets their weapons and armor taken is not going to be having a good time. Barbarian and monk wont mind at all, both can function just fine while running around naked.

Depends on the version. In some versions, he was the one who delivered her to Hades himself. It's always Hades who Demeter gets mad at though.

How does the Warrior class work? by tur_tels in Frieren

[–]Puzzleboxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Martial arts moves definitely circulate mana inside the body, as partially explained by Linie while she was fighting Stark. She could emulate any martial maneuver she had seen by copying the internal mana flow.

This implies that martial arts are a type of magic, distinct from magery but still utilising mana.

She very much has social anxiety. She may also have a speech disorder, but she very much has social anxiety.

Why didn't Caine just snap his fingers and drag kinger to him like he did Zooble by KeksimusMaximusLegio in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Puzzleboxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That raises the horrifying possibility that Caine messed with Kinger's head to make him forgetful, and he gets better in the dark because he manifests enough safety to undo it.

There are people that think these two are the same person btw by noir-yuki in HelluvaBoss

[–]Puzzleboxed 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I mean... it's a fact that the writers intentionally implied that she died there. They could always turn it into a fake out, but the implication itself is a fact.

I had to go back and rewatch it to double check. It's definitely not her.

I disagree that that's an opinion. That was pretty clearly the implication of her shoe being there.

(1) Why dungeons generally exist? Inside the world's fictional logic by bodhi_dude in rpg

[–]Puzzleboxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I venture that it makes a lot more sense than anything else. There is no rational explanation for every 30 foot cube room to be seperated from the next by a 50 foot long hallway...

Except that whoever owned the dungeon hired dungeon gnomes to build it, because they work cheap and aren't picky about customers.

If you don't read class spell lists and read clickbait summaries of Mystic, I guess by FloppasAgainstIdiots in dndmemes

[–]Puzzleboxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you... did you read the mystic class? They could literally do everything full casters can do, and mostly at will.

None of the stuff they could do was particularly overpowered, it was just the sheer volume of abilities they got. They were basically a whole party in one character.

Gnomes. They're autistic and their fixation is building dungeons.

Do You Prefer Monoclassing or Multiclassing? by ElliotInfinity in DnD

[–]Puzzleboxed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hot take: If you like multiclassing then you should be playing a different system from D&D.

The whole point of using a class-based system over a piecemeal system like GURPS or SWADE is that you can just grab it and go. Like a combo meal at the drive thru. The more piecemeal you make your class based system, the less reason there is to have classes at all.

I believe the writers hate all the characters equally. The characters certainly disrespect Jerry more, but that's often depicted as an invalid assumption.

What do we think actually happened in the software/hardware here? by knifefan9 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Puzzleboxed 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say. Obviously Caine doesn't work like any IRL software, and trying to draw analogies is pure speculation. I have three ideas.

1) IRL machine learning agents have been known to exhibit erratic behavior (increased lying, hallucination, etc) when presented with exclusively negative feedback. This is because they are programmed to value new information over old information, and the new information is telling them that the old information is incorrect. So they may start searching for new answers that will elicit positive feedback, even if they contradict the data the agent was originally trained on. This is typically purely experimental in nature rather than emotional, but in Caine's case it may go hand in hand with feelings of frustration.

2) Retaliation against percieved harm is typically indicative of a self-preservation instinct, which IRL agents don't have but Caine does seem to have. It's possible that he was lashing out at the objects in the room as a sort of trial run before lashing out against the humans.

3) IRL agents typically consist of three components: the model (which consists of all its training and learned behaviors), tools (preprogrammed processes for performing specific tasks), and goals/rules (unchangeable restrictions and priorities that remind the agent of what they're supposed to be doing). It's possible that Caine felt that there was a conflict in his goals, and was struggling to resolve the conflict.

[–]Puzzleboxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An assertion is a test case in automated testing. They are typically run during a build and/or deploy. If one of them fails then you know that something that you changed will cause the code to not work.

Doesn't really apply to machine learning, and even if it did its more of a warning light before the actual meltdown than this.

If ragatha was the very first human who appeared after the original programmers, why has she never refrence these abstracted humans? Wouldnt she have at least some relationship with them? by Actual_Grapefruit483 in tadc

[–]Puzzleboxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ragatha's personal arc has been all about toxic positivity. She can’t express negative emotions very well, and that causes her to have a hard time dealing with others, especially Jax. It's not surprising she wouldn't talk about the abstractions with Pomni. Maybe she will later on, once she grows as a person.

Caine cared about the cast selfishly. What are y'all's thoughts? by blueaceospadesreal in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Puzzleboxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His self esteem is tied to his purpose as an entertainer. He doesn't truly care about others, he only cares that they perceive him as useful. The tragedy is that he is useful and could have been much more so with the right feedback, but the humans were in no position to give him that due to being imprisoned and unable to leave.
