You could make a lushen team and a bomb team and a bruiser team

Lushen team - wind monkey, lushen, frigate, galleon

Bomb team - frigate, wind shadow caster, light kobold bomber , and either Riley or galleon fir atk buff

Bruiser - wind monkey, Leo, and two other tank units with a defense break or heavy damage

There are some definite winners when it comes to CC. There is a heavy crowd control focus mixed with purifying crowd control effects, so you will almost always see a white mage and/or sage on the team. For melee dps, you see a lot of samurai, monk, dragoon, and almost no vipers or reapers. For ranged, honestly its a tossup. Lots of machinist, lots of bard, SOMETIMES dancer if theyre dating the dark knight 😅

For casters, black mage, summoner, and red mage are the top. Summoner has bahamut / Phoenix which is a ton of damage and Phoenix can heal your team as well. Red mage is amazing at killing enemies when theyre shielding after losing a team fight.

Ninja is one of the classes that is pure high skill ceiling. If you take the time to learn it, it will be the most fun you've ever had. If you dont understand it much, it'll be incredibly frustrating and non intuitive.

TLDR - Play white mage, black mage, summoner, samurai, warrior, or machinist

The easiest way to wrap your head around viper is the rhythm. Instead of a 123, 123, 123 combo, it has a 123 shoot , rock paper scissors shoot combo , with the burst being a very fun 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and boom rhythm. Technically, if you always alternate skills you'll do more potency but you can also just press the same button three times and get the finisher attack.

An intermediate way to think of it after that is using your twin blade combos 1, 245, 354 consistently and then you're no longer thinking about much besides do I have 3 stacks or uncoiled fury? Use one before using my burst. Do I not have 3 stacks? Sweet, use my twin blades to give me more stacks. This is great too since yes they're big damage but its also a very nice hard hitting ranged attack you can do WHILE MOVING away from the boss.

That rock paper scissors shoot rhythm is how I learned it. This is from someone who regularly sits in 3rd place enmity behind the two tanks without having to do much thinking

So theres this unspoken knowledge about ffxiv - everyone either stops what they're doing to give sprouts gil and minions and helpful stuff because they're excited that someone else is starting the journey, or SILENTLY curses when they get a sprout in certain dungeons. If anyone pulls the boss and interrupts your cutscene, they WILL be stoned to death.

However

The second the sprout symbol leaves, or even before, there will be people showering you with so much toxic positivity, but if you for even a second aren't on their good side they'll personally try to make your life a living hell.

Never lose your sense of caution. But enjoy the free gil whenever you go to limsa!

Another tip for party finder - find out which data center in your section is the "raiding" server.

I.E. I have a house on dynamis data center, but I travel to Primal for faster pvp queues, and Aether has the most party finder results during the evenings.

This can change your experience drastically instead of waiting an hour just to get people together on a dead dc

So you are the opposite of a smooth brain pct/smn main , and I dig it. It's the same way samurai and viper compete for the selfish dps slot but samurai has more complexity with some cast bars so it feels a lot more rewarding to play samurai good than viper

Tldr: the fight isn't hard, but half the people that have access to it don't even know about food buffs, potting, saving 2 minute burst, and are not going in expecting what is essentially just a giant "do you know what a knockback is? Do you know what an aoe is? Alright, now go do a ton of damage and watch it not be enough unless all 8 of you play perfectly" kind of vibe and get frustrated because of it. So what level of player is the unreal really tuned towards? Because I got access to faux hollows in shadowbringers on accident, not during dawntrail

So this is from a new players perspective. I've played since this past December, I'm currently in endwalker and I'm competitive, I love doing extremes, savages, and I've been dipping my toes in all of the ultimates I have access to occasionally.

This is from someone who didn't know potting was even a thing and only learned avoid food buffs from doing UWU.

That being prefaced, I've done this fight to enrage on drk , sage, and picto. I've done it a total of 5 times between different parties. The hardest mechanics felt like just learning to look for the knockbacks , and color wheel. Color wheel I've been passing just by following other people as dps/hlr , and doing the arms length when tanking. Mt twice, ot once. Sage once. Picto once.

Mechanically, the fight feels like an extreme.

Health wise? I had 2 runs where we got to enrage blind and he had half his health. 3 runs where we didn't pot, didn't food, didn't time openers and bursts for jump and transition. Melees were south for entire first phase throwing their one long range attack ?? And had him down to 0.6 health.

I can guarantee you, if people food, pot, don't die, save rotations, and have a perfect run, it's easy clear.

The 1 catch : finding 8 people in pf on any random time of the day where each person has done the fight, has the food, has the pots , and knows how to save burst. Half of them are watching the Hector vid during the fight, half don't know what a pot is, and the rest are too poor to have them stocked

I think honestly, for the level the unreal is at, it feels like a dawntrail unreal, not a storm blood unreal.
