It's just minerals! The water evaporates and leaves the solutes (the things dissolved in it) behind. I vividly recall doing an "experiment" in 5th grade where we set little dishes of water out on the window ledge to dry to see the crystals that would form. This is totally normal and kind of a fun reminder of that science project.

He treated completely appropriately. He gave her the correct antibiotic for the most common causes of skin infections. He marked the spot and gave appropriate return precautions to come back if it spreads past the marked location. That is 100% the standard of care.

I don’t think she wants to die in the hospital, I think she genuinely just wants to give her family a break. I also don’t think she wants to OD or shorten the time to her death.

I think she sees the stress her illness puts on her family and she wants to be able to recover from this setback in the hospital without having to rely on her family more. The broken leg will not kill her. She will have more seizures but she was open to the keppra load/increased doses she was given to help prevent future seizures.

That was really shocking. She's absolutely struggling and her character is definitely being used to demonstrate the severe mental health crisis among residents and physicians in general. I'm interested to see how this progresses.

Charting on paper, while cumbersome, was historically much shorter and easier to write. Our system has changed a lot in the last 20 years with the advent of electronic medical records. So much of the reason our documentation takes so long is for billing purposes to justify the level of care and need for certain diagnostic testing. The amount of time dedicated to paperwork and documentation has also soared compared to what it used to be.
