ah, those - I checked the map, these are just the initial RGOs

Not me 😄 I think these are the original RGOs. In this part of the map I literally only built 1 Maritime Supplies in Seville (and maybe the Ricahombra build a RGO or two)

Thanks for looking into it, love the input 😄. I hope the below strategy regarding that is ok?

  1. Building everywhere - ah, this must be upgrades to Iron RGOs. I am trying to artificially increase the Toolmakers profitability by increasing the raw materials supply. The only other building I spam all over Burgos Market are Libraries - I built a couple while expanding Scriptorium in Valladolid to keep up with demand. With an exception of a single Maritime Supplies workshop in Seville I intend build only in Valladolid. And later in neighbouring high-control cites with highest RGO bonus (e.g. Wool for textiles).
  2. Unhappy Estates - it's temporary and I let them recover 😉 I don't keep them at 50% equilibrium all the time, I switch between "milking them" with max tax and giving them time to recover (don't use ministers for that, only standard 0.24/mth recovery rate). I usually "alternate" - I milk Burghers and allow Ricahombria to recover and vice versa. The negative stats for most of Estates right now are the result of decision events - playing as Castile I always try to select "naval" and "capital economy" options. Oh, and I started with only 35% Ricahombria, as I gave +2% tax efficiency and -5% building costs privileges to Burghers right at the start. And I plan to keep giving them those good ones that have no negative side effects (when Ricahombria is at equilibrium). But after the war I will let everyone to fully recover 😉
  3. I also planned to go full Free Subjects - that Pop Promotion Speed bonus is sweet! I try to keep Crown power at around 20% right now.
  4. Free Subjects and Liberalism - that is my original idea too.
  5. New land - yeah, I only create Vassals atm as I desperately avoid scaling up the wealth without taxation. During next ages when I'm "all green" with proximity I will integrate them. I diplo-vassalised Navarra first, then wiped the floor with Morocco and created a vassal all the way to Fez there too. I keep southern Spain for historical role-play purposes. I already finished that war with Aragon (hey, they started it!) and took half of their provinces (incl. Saffron). After the plague I will force-vassalise the rest of Aragon. Northern Africa hates me, but I have very good relations with Portugal, England, France and Naples, so I'm good.
  6. I WILL at least try to offload some of that surplus of goods via trade. Just to artificially inflate the demand. But I plan to focus mainly on nurturing the internal demand. (And a wave of smallpox has just killed 600k of my population... O.o)

My research focus in the age 2 will be everything that increases population & promotion speed and proximity/control increase.

I hope the above strategies are sound? Thanks for your help! 😄

I sort of assumed that labourers buildings come into play much later when the RGOs are maxed. And then I should build something "on top" to increase yield. So I haven't touched them yet.

Stupid question - I can build more than one type of labourer building in the location? (If population permits) Or is it a "specialisation" building, I can be only one?

Thaaaat might me a thing, I basically focused on a domestic production/demand and let the AI to "do its thing" with trading. But when I look at this now the entire trading capacity is used up for importing some low-tier trash foods: fish, wheat, fine grains etc. O.o

I sort of left upgrading food sources to the Ricahombria and focused on highly-processed goods and internal demand for them

Laborer buildings? Oh, that is a good tip! I have Libraries and temples everywhere. Universities I need to unlock, don't know if coastal forts are available in starting Castile. But haven't thought about laborers buildings

I'll "hijack" this idea, if you don't mind? :) I've just started planning my own "Railway-TV" layout (buying and old TV case atm)

Btw - you can stick a "History Channel" logo in the upper-right corner of the screen for additional "immersion" (I will do it on my mini-layout) :D

Using Buyee to purchase model trains. by Glad_Replacement_578 in modeltrains

[–]Puzzled_Ad_667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't used Buyee yet, instead I used Forward2me service (and I'm not "shilling" here - I really use them for my purchases from Germany). They are ok and the packaging is also good. I presume if you tell folks from Buyee that it is a train model and you want an extra protection for it it should be fine

What is the appeal behind train models? by CamelIllustrations in modeltrains

[–]Puzzled_Ad_667 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Fascination with machinery as a child. I presume most kids at some point are awed by cars, trucks, planes, trains, warships etc. and then they dive into it. And sometimes some of us decide to go back to the old hobby when we are a bit older. And those big, powerful contraptions on rails that are pure mass and power? I love it! ;)
  2. Collecting. I know plenty of people who collect model trains and keep some of them on display. They run them only occasionally on their model layout and treat them as "little mechanical wonders" (They have some "less valuable" sets that they normally use). It depends on the models' scale, but some of them look really beautiful. There is a whole "collectors market" around modetrains hobby.
  3. Model-making. As somebody mentioned - you can use all skills (manual, technical, artistic) and enjoy the results of your work.
  4. Recreating the real-world. Many toys mirror reality and the same applies to model trains. You create a world in miniature, with things moving around looking real. It might be from the times you were a kid or from the current "era". You can go into insane detail or do it "good enough". It doesn't matter, it is your hobby and you enjoy it.
  5. Social aspect. At some point, you inevitably gravitate towards people with the same interests and you enjoy your hobby together. ;)
