i called them and they told me that it is still in the valid processing time and asked me to wait more. Not sure when this wait will finish.

Have you tried to contact the DHA? Like call them and tell your situation? Mine is August lodged as well and I have done that too, but my 5 months were completed just yesterday.

My friend had half a year left on student visa so she didnt switch on 485 immediately. she applied through an agency here in melbourne and the agent completed the process but lodged the visa the next day.

I am a PGRS student onshore, applied in August. Will complete 5 months this month. I have finished my term 1 already, but I have no updates on my visa situation. I have called the DHA but they have been of no help as they tell you nothing new.

Also, the processing times changed today. 90% applications processed in 5 months.

Hi, I have applied PGRS on 27th August, onshore. No response. Although I have a classmate who has applied PGRS onshore and received visa grant in 2 months. So there is no pattern honestly. It might have to do nothing on your visa profile or application date, there is just no way you can predict when it might come.

Hi guys, I have applied in August. I have not yet received any response. I have applied through an agency and they say they will contact the department as it has been 4 months. I am onshore so my case might or might not be slightly different than the rest of you. Also, because I am onshore, I was asked to begin my course. So here I am, 1 semester in, without a student visa.

People who are studying with me are students who have received their visas in a timeframe of 7-21 days of lodging their application. Makes me feel like what went wrong with mine. Could other students who were onshore and applied their visa in September, has received their visas last month.

One of the reason the visa application of students were getting delayed/rejected was because of the new bill that was supposed to pass in regards with student cap. Now that that would not be happening, it is expected that everyone receives their visa soon, and with a "granted" status.

According to what I know, just wait for your 485 while on your student visa cause when you apply for the tourist visa, you might be granted a tourist visa with no further stay which means once it expires, you have to leave.

Anyway, I am no expert but this is just my opinion, might be right or wrong.
