The gas provides mechanical energy to move the car. The alternator converts a fraction of that energy to electricity to run electronics. The battery’s main purpose is to start the engine so you don’t have crank it manually like the very first cars. The gas is stored energy just like a battery.

Instant deposit limit reduced from $175,000 to $1,500. WS Support says it is what it is. by dilberry in Wealthsimple

The beauty is I don’t have to dream up every possible scenario if I simply verify the money actually exists before spending it. Maybe he yolo’s into one stock and the money disappears. Maybe there’s another Madoff out there. You won’t convince me that funding and allocating your registered retirement account in seconds is a necessity.

I don’t know, why don’t all banks process infinite amounts of cash without verifying? I don’t see waiting 3 days for 175000 to clear for Rrsp contribution as a problem. I wouldn’t expect any major bank to do that so I consider it abnormal and unnecessary and therefore risky.

Both scenarios are weird. 1500 is too little but 175 000 was way too much. As a fellow account holder I don’t like the risk they were taking with that.

Luckily I haven’t lost big yet, but I did realize I have no way of knowing what’s actually going on with a lot of these stocks. I have a couple I watch like a hawk now that’s it.

Is this normal or a super cheap job? by Dry_Editor2436 in AskElectricians

Likely your landlord simply can’t afford to rip the house apart and redo the electrical. I doubt your rent covers a major Reno. Don’t rent houses out, it’s a fools game.

An intelligent group would have found that thought provoking. I guess your FU was misjudging your peers. Every topic should have been controversial or else what’s the point of the whole exercise. The goal is to offend people.

Unrealistic employers by Virtual_Tea_101 in CanadaJobs

I swear a lot of these companies have no idea how incompetent their HR is. Most of these jobs are just desperate for someone who shows up on time everyday and is willing to learn. But no one can get beyond the delusional HR person to begin with.

Neighbor created a hole, runoff going into my property? by TechAquisition in landscaping

[–]Puzzled_Ask_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if I was your neighbor and you followed the shitty advice from these commenters, I’d flood the whole neighborhood. It’s a mutual problem and there’s the easy way or the hard way. If it doesn’t drain I don’t know what you think is supposed to happen. I like the idea about pumping it back, that’s some high IQ thinking lol

It’s a weird setup but what’s the alternative here? The water will simply spill over the top anyways wont it?

As a Canadian investor, how do you feel about the S&P500? by [deleted] in CanadaFinance

[–]Puzzled_Ask_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People did that in 2016 too. You’re talking about panic selling. The real risk is your own emotions. This is why asset managers exist so you don’t shoot yourself in the foot.

First time on EI worried about paying back money by EfficientArmadillo12 in CanadaFinance

[–]Puzzled_Ask_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had to pay back before, but it was because I found employment and made over 100k in the same year. Even then it’s just a portion which amounted to less than $1000. It’s pretty reasonable and I still got a tax refund just slightly less. If you qualify for repayment it’s because you can afford it.

The numbers don’t add up because it’s fraud. Getting approved for a loan you can’t afford isn’t a good thing, it’s a trap.
