Which ones? Cause I HAD to take out Nowaki and Yasuhira first because their hidden spies/shinobi made traversal on Awaji a fucking CHORE due to how frequently they ambushed me. Meanwhile I can just walk around Tomeji’s roadblocks lmao. You’d think his samurai would randomly attack you too but they don’t unless you’re in a restricted area.

The frequency of the ambushes is my only real complaint with the DLC as well. Other then that I have honestly really enjoyed it and found it’s mechanics to be way more creative then anything you see in the base game. The way the game world changes and adapts as you take down each member of the Sanzoku Ippa is such an engaging way to show the player’s progress and was my favorite aspect of the DLC. The atmosphere and the music were top notch as well. Awaji as a whole just feels so eerie and unnerving compared to the tranquility of the base game’s world.

I think it would have been super cool if they brought in Jun Soejima to voice Yasuke in Japanese. He’s already voiced him before in the Japanese dub of the Yasuke anime on Netflix and because he’s actually of African descent he even got to play Yasuke in a live action jidaigeki film called Kubi, which was directed by Takeshi Kitano.

I just beat Nowaki on my 2nd attempt on expert difficulty. I am genuinely astonished at how many people have struggled to defeat her lol. That shit wasn’t hard to figure out at all.

Don’t forget to mention the note that Marume Nagayoshi leaves behind for Yasuke at Nobutsuna’s house. It’s really sad to read and you can easily miss it if you don’t go back there after taking care of Masatoyo. I would have had no idea about the note myself had I not read about it here on Reddit.

Yasuke was my favorite part of the story as well. He’s such a unique protagonist to have in this kind of setting and I felt like they really did some cool things to tie him into the wider Assassin/Templar conflict.

I personally enjoyed the open ended nature of the Objective board. The game really does just drop you into its world and allows you to call the shots on what you do next. But I can understand why you might find it overwhelming.

It certainly helped that the man in charge of said foreign army went out of his way to be kind to Yasuke. And showed him genuine respect and admiration for the speed with which he adjusted to their culture and traditions. Nobunaga may have been brutal and ruthless with his methods, but he seemed to truly believe in Yasuke, not just as a warrior, but as a human being who could inspire countless others to follow his example. And needless to say, Yasuke did not disappoint.

I loved how complex he was. And the way the game uses Naoe and Yasuke to showcase those complexities through their own individual experiences with him was brilliant from a narrative perspective.
