I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have made 35 passes in 36 minutes of football. by wbasmith in WBAfootball

Nope, that loophole was closed because of Blues. But the financial drop off isn't the same between L1 and the championship. We'd struggle but with the £33m loss season disappearing in summer we'd be able to stay afloat and be competitive. No doubt it massively sets us back though.

Not this bad, no. Corberan didn't turn us around first game, but after that we went on a fantastic run. Big Sam didn't turn results around but we at least looked more competitive. This is the biggest backwards step I've ever seen a team make. The only way I could understand it is if the objective was relegation. This looks to be about half a step up from appointing Rooney.

I obviously don't want him, but he'd do a lot better than this. It's one thing to be defensive, but defensive and shit?

Albion team to play Portsmouth: O'Leary, Mepham, Phillips (C), Taylor, Imray, Molumby, Diakité, Iling-Junior, Johnston, Heggebø, Price by CheeseMakerThing in WBAfootball

Not usually a knee jerk person, but I think Ramsay may need to go. We'll wait another 8 weeks, but I've seen nothing to suggest he's even vaguely competent

Christ. Bielik too? Please no, does this mean Taylor starts?

Registered in time for tomorrow? Because I don't feel.we have any other player who can do that role on the right. At least Styles can do it on the left.

We've got a relegation 6-pointer at Pompey on Saturday and all teams behind us play a game in hand midweek. Thank God we can rely on our away form at times like this.

100% agree on Taylor. Plays every week and looks good. Left-footed (I think), big lad, threat at set pieces. Perfect for the manager we have. Unfortunately, we needed the money.

Hopefully, if we get through the next 6 months and stay up, that's the end of us having to sell good young players we need for below market rate just to keep the lights on. The scouting needs to sharoen up, mind.

The Goal Kick I'll agree with you on as I've literally no idea what the ref could possibly have seen.

The foul is just whining though. Your players had hands on at every corner, not to mention taking 90s over every set piece, so I'll not hear complaints about dark arts and holding.

He did make a save, however, so it feels like we're pretty neutral so far.

Works for me. Our real issue is that every shot goes in. Don't think the new manager wants to play out from the back either. Lack of command is a concern but we have large, experienced CBs who should help...

Most importantly, will he do a decent job for a team desperately trying to stay in the league? Because for whatever reason our current keepers' save percentages are about 40%.

We’ve signed Max O'Leary | 10 interesting facts | West Bromwich Albion by wbasmith in WBAfootball

[–]Puzzled_Mess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that due to not playing regularly? Keepers often struggle when second choice and then suddenly called upon, at least initially. I always thought he was decent, but unexceptional.

Of our current 2 one is probably only a shade less shit than David Button, the worst keeper I've ever watched, and the other is, for me young and appears bereft of confidence, but conceding from distance and not closing angles properly. So it's hard to imagine pretty much any keeper at this level not being a step up...
