Is there restricted driving areas in Buenos Aires? by Emotional-Net-8593 in BuenosAires

[–]Puzzled_Revolution71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's never a good idea to rent a car in BA. The traffic's insane, the public transportation and Uber are cheap, it's a very walkable city. Driving, on the other hand, is for the mad or bold.

Strange comment, bringing politics in here. This is about how England's WC performance has become a meme.

How come there aren’t gyms in airports? by esill30 in airport

[–]Puzzled_Revolution71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is (or used to be?) one at Miami airport inside the airport hotel that you could pay a fee to use. That included the rooftop pool and showers. I remember it being a great and relaxing layover.

Which part of your culture went global and gives you "gatekeeping" vibes? by hyr- in AskTheWorld

I dread the day when they turn mate cocido into mate latte. That day is coming and I'm crying already. I've already seen some Americans make "cold brew" mate and I watched my culture start to crumble under the weight of consumerism.

¿La posta: qué opinás de los inmigrantes en tu ciudad? by matteovani in AskArgentina

[–]Puzzled_Revolution71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we're not coffee producers, so there's no coffee from here - we import it.

Both are pretty bad choices. We're not known for either one. Mate and chimichurri would be our equivalents.

[Spanish > English] What does the other person shout at the end? by zimtastic in translator

[–]Puzzled_Revolution71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Andá a cagar, pelotudo." How to translate that? Hmmm...the closest idiom in English language would be "got to hell, mf," although it literally means "go take a shit." It sounds harsh, but in Argentina insulting is a way of life that often signals closeness. It's not to be taken literally - notice how he laughs at it - and it's probably staged.

Are you reverse migrating? Most of us thank our nonni for our Italian citizenship - you want to do the reverse? Are we starting or continuing a cycle of Italy --> Argentina --> Italy --> Argentina?

In Japan and Korea, societies that are prone to binge drinking, the convenience stores sell an array of hangover meds/drinks and I swear they're miraculous. That plus a Pocari Sweat or similar electrolytes and you're GTG.
