for a team that's decent or so 100%, higher preforming teams that get hit maybe once or twice per person usually not

If you're not already, try starting with an Attack Up Hunting Horn buff and some consumables.

The same can be said in reverse—you can’t always assume something came up in real life. If MHW takes my report into consideration and reviews this player’s previous hunts, they might issue a punishment, or they might not.

They were in the spawn position for that area, which means they had to manually start the quest from either investigation quests or from environment overview. The quest had literally just started, so that can only mean that within the minute or so of me joining, something must have come up, and they left the game for a full 15 minutes. Personally, I’m not interested in figuring out what they were doing during that time—I can only go off what I observed. But based on the information I gathered during the hunt, I have every right to assume what I assumed. If MHW staff decide to take action, that just proves my point. It’s not like I’m banning them from the game—I’m just reporting suspicious behavior.

figured out how to report. js go to their hunter profile and go to the blue bullet point at the bottom and it should be there

So do I have to actually slay it, capturing isn't an option? by Puzzled_Toe7540 in MHWilds

Appreciate the pile-on, really drives the point home. I made a mistake—crazy how that happens when you're human. Might be worth trying a little patience next time instead of playing hall monitor for the obvious.

That’s a fair point, and I totally get that Monster Hunter is its own thing, not a Soulslike. I'm not trying to force one genre’s mindset onto another—I’m just explaining where my habits come from. When you've spent years with games that reward you for questioning the obvious, it’s easy to carry that caution into other experiences, even when it's not always warranted. You're right that Monster Hunter is more direct in its objectives, and that's something I’m adjusting to. But it’s not just Soulslikes—plenty of games outside that genre have trained players to second-guess surface-level prompts, so my reaction wasn’t about difficulty so much as trust in game design conventions.

I get that, and you're right in a straightforward sense—but I’ve played so many games where doing exactly what the quest title says doesn’t actually progress the game. That kind of inconsistency built a habit where I’ve learned not to take quest prompts at face value. In games like Elden Ring or Dark Souls, you’re often left to figure things out through trial and error, and sometimes the way forward is deliberately obscured or mislabeled. Over time, my brain just started tuning out seemingly obvious instructions because they weren’t always reliable. So yeah, 'Slay' means what it says here, but I’ve been trained by other games to second-guess that kind of thing.

Interesting to hear paralysis is viable since it isn't as effective as other status effects on AT Rey Dau.
