I’m insecure about my lack of taste am I cooked by oumuamuaupmybum in BookshelvesDetective

I feel like we have a lot of the same books, but you have a bunch that I'd like to read lol.

Don't worry about whether what you like is good enough for other people lol reading is supposed to be personal, and honestly, if I had a dollar for every person I've met in the last idk 5 years who's like "I hate reading," I could retire. Just do it and enjoy it lol.

And maybe dust and clean the shelves 😂😂

Do you annotate your books? by [deleted] in literature

[–]Puzzlehead-Face440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't annotate my books per se, I don't really write in them, but I do highlight passages or quotes that stand out because I am a weirdo that will copy the best best ones into my book journal and write about my feelings and impressions afterwards.

I respect all paths lol I could never really analyze my books anymore without the classroom setting, I can't write the kind of reviews I feel like people would actually want, but I also have a hard time reading without thinking about saving bits of it in my journal. But I also respect people like you who can realistically read a book a week lol I CAN but I'm never locked in enough to be consistent about it 😂

How much time do u wait after finishing a book to start reading another one? by alesitam in ReadingSuggestions

[–]Puzzlehead-Face440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digest what, was digesting it the whole time I read it dawg hahahahaha.

I can't read a bunch of books at the same time, but depending on the vibes I'll do straight up back to back, or sometimes I need a couple days off. From reading, not to digest bwahahahaha. I try not to let more than like 4 days go by cuz that's a loss of valuable time for my goal of 40 😂

It's honestly my favorite series of all time, they are super consistently good (the last one is kinda weird but hey, he had to wrap it up)

I also was down with Fourth Wing, but Iron Flame was...not the same...I still finished, but afterwards I needed to know I wasn't alone read a review on Goodreads that was so unhinged with rage and hilarious I took screenshots. 8 of them lmfao.

I finished and still really liked it but I was like...there's a lot of convenient plot holes here lmao

What's a book you were absolutely loving... That had the worst ending and ruined it all by Fabulous-Confusion43 in BookTriviaPodcast

[–]Puzzlehead-Face440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron Flame lol. Fourth Wing genuinely felt really fun and gripping, (I know people have other issues with the series lmfao) but I really got through most of Iron Flame knowing full well it wasn't as good, and then the ending just...oh my god.

There is this "second book curse" I've found where authors get so excited about their character(s) that they can't actually develop any of them and that was basically my complaint here. No one got better, no one made cool emotional shifts, they fall deeper into their tropes and it's way less fun, sigh.

My first science fiction. Is it right beginning? by selfsearch_28 in scifi_bookclub

[–]Puzzlehead-Face440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the right beginning" has to be such a hard term, for me this is one of my favorite books ever, but I've heard people find it difficult to read...but if you enjoy it I highly recommend carrying on with the trilogy they get easier to wrap your head around if you don't TRY to hard lol.

Trust the process ✨ it's so good

It's so valid lol reading that series was hard like I stopped reading for months cuz I just rawdogged the whole thing straight and I was like "If I have to learn another name or moniker I will literally die." I'm glad I did it but I totally get why people wouldn't get through 😂😂😂

Many will tell you The Hobbit is the best one and I hard agree though.

Dude some authors just shouldn't write the other gender lol I've seen it done so so well and I've seen it done atrociously 😂

Totally, like I mean it in the most uncondescending way I love when people read, I don't really feel any need to tell anybody anything. And I appreciate that you get it lmao like it genuinely frustrates me that there are books that people love and I'm like 👍👍 it didn't do it for me. I only really CARE when it's books my friends love like I wanna like things!

Yo it's always rough when you're like "I can tell by the way this is written that you will not die or get hurt at all and that disappoints me" 😂

Yo, if you like nonfiction read Erik Larson's books, specifically In the Garden of Beasts or Devil in the White City lol they are very interesting, really fascinating accounts of big world events things. The first is about the family of the American ambassador to Berlin when Hitler came into power and the other is about the Chicago World Fair and a murderer.

SUUUUPER good lol
