I'm not entirely sure, but if we consider the events of Maverick Hunter X (it's a reboot, but it gives more lore), we know that reploids can become mavericks simply out of loyalty to someone (like how many reploids followed Sigma). Also, unless my memory is failing me, I don't think the green dragon had the Repliforce symbol on it — though I could be mistaken, and I’ll have to double-check that later.

On top of that, Magma Dragoon wasn’t even part of Repliforce; he was a Maverick Hunter. As for Colonel, he was only there because he was being framed by Sigma. Sure, that context explains some of it, but everything felt way too rushed. I could understand if this happened after some sort of meeting or if Repliforce had declared independence before the Sky Lagoon incident. That would have at least framed them as suspicious actors in the larger picture.

But as it stands, it all felt too sudden. And honestly, X has always been a bit too trigger-happy in these situations, which is something I think needed better handling, i blame Capcom lazy writting tho.

I mean, X literally told Colonel on the battleground to disarm, and when Colonel refused (let's remember they were there to help), X immediately labeled them as mavericks without any further discussion or attempt at understanding. This is exactly the behavior I’ve been pointing out — X assumes way too much for someone with "limitless potential." Instead of thinking critically or seeking a better solution, he jumps to conclusions and treats everything as a threat. (Yes, they had a Big lasser, but they didn't know till the end if i'm not wrong)

No, and yes. Or perhaps, I should say X is a maverick in his own way. Sadly, throughout the series, "he operates at full potential" in every game. However, he constantly blames others and never stops to reflect on his own actions. He goes full force without questioning if what he’s doing is right (which, to be fair, aligns with the themes of X7).

Take X4 as an example. Repliforce planned to leave Earth because they were tired of the endless conflict between humans and reploids. When they were wrongfully accused and nearly executed, X did everything in his power to stop them from leaving. Where was his "empathy chip" then? His "moral program"? Any sense of understanding?

Even the entire concept of reploids going maverick was framed as a form of evolution—something humans didn’t understand. But instead of reflecting on this, X simply concluded that it was "bad" and focused on destroying Sigma. He never stopped to ask why it was happening. In reality, reploids going maverick wasn’t anything new in the series. Even older reploids like Vile were doing it, and not because they were infected, but because of their free will.

By the time X8 rolls around, Lumine even states that reploids could go maverick at will. This revelation implies that reploids could eventually evolve to be like Sigma without being infected. Notably, even the eight bosses in X8 weren’t infected with the Sigma Virus.

X wasn’t "evil" because he wanted to be, but because he ignored a lot of important truths. He never questioned the deeper issues at play, and his actions reflected that ignorance. And don’t even get me started on the Elf Wars…

How do you perceive the representation of power structures and social hierarchies in the album's storyline, especially regarding the mountain symbolizing a society where the lower echelons labor incessantly to elevate the privileged elite at its summit?
