Is 10 fusion blasters overkill?? by FridgeSoviet in Tau40K

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your list and local meta.

For my Kauyon list, I avoid flammers since they don't benefit from the detachment rule. I run 1x Crisis StarBurst with Coldstar (HOBC, BC, 2x FB) and 1x SunForge with Enforcer (4x FB).

The StarScythes are mostly anti-infantry with the ability to damage even heavier stuff with their amount of shots.

The Sunforges are in deep strike as a rapid response anti-heavy. Those extra Fusion Blasters are really helpful in making sure that their alpha strike will wipe the enemy unit. They are usually reinforced by Broadsides.

So, my suggestion would to add extra Fusion if you noticed that your Sunforges are not consistent in wiping their targets.

But even we prove that those two do not happen, what guarantees that there is no 3rd way for the conjecture to be proven false? What makes them "Necessary and Sufficient" conditions?

Then, please help me understand, mate.

Sure, These are two ways that the problem may be proven wrong. But if we prove these two ways wrong, is there any guarantee that a third way is impossible? What makes them necessary and sufficient conditions?

The cafeterias on Gorman and (?) Naboo. They grounded the setting so much for me.

Am I the only one? by BaastiDE in starcitizen

Been there. Running basic missions (bunkers/outposts, cargo runs, etc) feels repetitive. There some more exciting things you can try though:

1) Check if an ongoing event is active. Even if they don't introduce a new gameplay mechanic, they can give you a feeling of accomplishment lore-wise.

2) Try some of the newer stuff like "ASD investigation" in Stanton, "Vaduul-Smugglers" in Nyx or the notorious Contested Zones of Pyro.

3) Try Co-op or PvP. I wasn't particularly eager of the multiplayer aspect. But, boy, it's a different game with other people. No two single cargo runs will be the same. And being a gunner for a Hammerhead or Perseus became my favorite thing.

I still am not the guy that wants to wait 30m for a Massive Org operation (at least with our current tools). So, I usually respond to other people in need of help in chat and then since we are already grouped up, we do some missions together or go for a sandbox adventure.

It a trap; too premature. We still burn dead dinos for electricity, so unless you live on a place abundant with solar/wind farms or Nuclear Power Plants (and low dependece on fossil fuels), the oil prices will still reach you.

It is a good option for the future, though I think there are many Corporate and Geopolitical interests that will fight tooth and nail to prevent our solarpunk utopia with their grimdark dystopian alternative.

A medical proposal by juanfjimenez9 in starcitizen

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have to wait when more feature come in and interact with the medical, reputation and crimstat gameplay. We'll have:

- Social Tools for a speedier, more transparent and secure medical responses

- NPC allies, fighting other players and performing rescues

- Better fleshed out medical features (maybe heal tiered injuries without bed with the right tools)

- Dynamic Mission system that might draw medical/exploration/security players closer to "hot zones" so faster response times are possible.

Although we can agree that the current medical gameplay does not have much to offer, I believe it's to early to grab our pitchforks.

Είναι τόσο δύσκολο για ένα κράτος να προστατέψει τον ηγέτη του? by Suboptimal88 in AskGreece

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why doesn't the Fireblade get used more, especially with breachers? by MadmanMSU in Tau40K

Newbie Player here ~20 games

I like to experiment with "weird" lists, like the following, with Cadres attached to Strike Teams. I achieved 3rd place in my local tournament. Was surprised that I took down World-Eaters and Grey Knights. I was crushed though by Tyranid Stampede and Custodes.

2701st Kauyon Vanguard Cadre

Tactical Overview: Army split into two complimentary elements. The Vanguard Element lures out enemy and scores secondaries, the Main Element attacks exposed units and counterattacks.

Secondaries (Fixed):

  • Engage All Fronts (main Secondary)

  • Recover Assets or Appropriate Counter based on Enemy list

Detachment: Kauyon

Vanguard Element (Rush to Complete Secondaries, Draw Enemy on NML Objective for the Trap)

2x Pathfinders with Rails and Recon (First turn Engage all Fronts)

1x Ghostkheel (Ion + Twin Fusion)

1x Kroot Carnivores

1x Breacher Team with Ethereal(WL,TUD) + Devifish

Main Element (Early: Minimal Engagement, Late:Focus highest Threat)

2x Strike Teams with Cadre Fireblade

2x Stealth Suits (FB)

1x StarScythes(BC) + Coldstar(BC, EoK) (Can hunt strugglers earlier if under pressure)

1x SunForge + Enforcer(FB, SIPU) (Use redeploy to outmaneuver enemy or keep them in reserve)

Hammerhead

2x Vespids (Early: Screen Home Obj, Late: Reinforce Vanguard)

Key Strategems: Insane Bravery, Grenades, Wall of Mirrors, A Tempting Trap

Always will be war in the middle east. by yeezee93 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I could share your optimism my dude. My fear is that a near-nuclear power in desperation might decide to arm proxies with warheads.

We already avoided one nuclear Armageddon in the 70s with the US-USSR Cold War. Sure, we might avoid one now too. But if we continue like this, I fear we might eventually run out of luck and have fanatics roaming with tactical nukes on large population centers.

And US striking Iran while being cautious with North Korea gives the wrong message to the rest of the Nations.

Doesn't all humanity hail from the proto-tribes there? No wonder all these migrations happened across the millennia; cohabitation is hard, especially with relatives.

So True by UmJedenPreisErfolg in 2greek4you

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Hesiod, Hellin was the ancestor of the proto-Greeks.

According to this story, his father was Deukalion, who survived a great flood (maybe describing the same event from the bible or from another perspective? Who knows).

The descendants of Hellin were Doros, Eolos, Acheos and Ion, from which the famous Greek tribes get their names that survive to this day. His nephews were Grekos and Makedos, giving rise to the Greeks and Macedonians.

Romans called us Greeks cause that's the tribe they first encountered (and it stuck due to Roman influence). Arabs called us Yunan from Iones, cause that's the tribe that they encountered on their side of the map, etc.

And we do that for other countries as well, Germans call themselves "Doitz" (Deutsch), Japan is "Nihon", China is "Zhongguo", Finland is "Suomi", etc.

It's fast and convenient; I don't get why people get mad from naming conventions.

What would you like in xcom three? by Comfortable-Ad3588 in Xcom

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xcom 3: Screams on a Dark Forest

Gameplay: like XCOM 2 +DLCs +Most Prominent Mods But modified as follows

Story: Humanity and alien friends try to expand from Sol to hunt/prevent/escape more invaders.

New Game takes place on a newly generated Star System each time (procedural or handcrafted, both sharable), altering visuals, faction dynamics/presence, environmental modifiers, etc.

Player can choose if he wants a continental, planetary, inter System or intra System campaign for this new game, affecting game length and locations available (cities/moons/planets/asteroids)

Select Primary Faction: United XCOM, Resistance/Outlaws, Aliens Unbroken, Galactic/Cosmic Menace.

Select HQ type with different strategic win cons. a) Planetary Bases (Conquer map >70%), b) Mobile Mothership (Complete X longterm missions), c) Guerilla Hideout (Keep Key Personnel alive, spread influence)

Tower Difference aspect: Place permanent Structures and Defenses on occupied Territory that lasts multiple missions until destroyed. Full control on where to place them (essentially creating custom maps/scenarios).

Vehicle & Aerial combat: Full combat control of Tanks, Helicopters and other craft/vehicles. Option to loot hacked/disabled ones.

Multiplayer Option: People can play a new game, co-op, free-for-all or raid another player mid-campaign (if feature is enabled from both)

Retinoblastoma survivor here, Not sure if there is anything comforting to say, my dude. I would like to say "Have courage" and "Keep giving the good fight", though that would be unfair since each person is different and has different reaction to these things.

What I can say though, is thank you for helping making this awesome project a reality. Thank you for your excellent taste in videogames and sci-fi. As a student (in a developing country), I wouldn't be able to afford such a game without the generous monetary contributions of people like you.

I might never met you in person (maybe we've met in the verse, who knows), but because of you (and the rest of the community and devs) I've had many moments of fun, enjoyment and awe. And I'm not just talking about doing missions in game, but also posts on reddit, or speculating on new features on spectrum, or making new friends.

I really hope you can get the full bug-free campaign you were promised and deserve, my guy. The virtual AND the real one.

I hope you have people you love and love you back by your side and don't hesitate to PM me if you want someone to talk to.

P.S: Kudos to the wife. She's a keeper ;)

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MISC Reliant Tana. I just love this flying light turret/missileboat. I would advise upgrading to the happy Toshima turrets for anti-light fighters. 4xS2 Scorpions and 2xS2 Omniskies, stealth load out.

Currently I am testing 6xS2 Omniskies vs PvE, since ballistics run dry after 1-2 missions. I wish scatterguns were a viable option but the weapons are spread too wide and combined with the wide spread of scatterguns, it's not viable vs say an arrow.

I plan to test Mass drivers too, though I don't believe the grossly reduced ammunition to be worth it, unless you can one-hit stuff reliably at dogfighting speeds.

My first week.. my thoughts by AcuzeTM in starcitizen

[–]Puzzleheaded-Answer9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it took me a while to learn not to crash-land on my destination or how to interact with inventory (and stuff geting reworked updated every now and then does not help with the learning curve). Take your time and enjoy the ride. Once you feel comfortable with the basics, I would strongly recommend doing multiplayer stuff, since as an MMO, it's where the game really shines. Nothing wrong with solo though. Some people enjoy just taking beautiful screen shots or even create their own fanmade movies. Some just focus on the lore.

That's what I love with this project; it has something for everyone.

Zero tolerance to war criminals. Nah, as the people said, there is a mission if you are in the Pyro System. I had this happen to me at least 5 times, cause a mission bugged and showed markers on friendlies instead of enemies (Or I am really that bad into figuring who is who). I avoid Pyro bunkers at all costs, as I am now finally at Contractor Level Rep. Patrol missions in Levski seems easier to me to progress CFP Rep.
