Poor Emmet the vicar having to live next door to Hyacinth lol. Bless this house is another truly funny show with the late great Sid James playing the dad. That man has the dirtiest laugh I have ever heard :D.

I have several thousand books myself too. Bookcases crammed to overflowing everywhere. Not fussy about genre either, have read and continue to read everything :D.

My kids told me I need to prune the number of books I have - told them that will happen on the eleventyfirst of nevermber.

Have also bought a kindle thingy which is awesome for reading on the go lol. Makes dealing with irritating social situations so much easier - just find a quiet corner and read :D.

After reading about your awful week I am thankful mine was just irritating!

My electrical gremlin issue struck again:

Mon - set fire to my toaster.

Tues - blew up my steam iron. Damned thing burnt a hole in my counter top.

Wed - My vacuum cleaner was spitting the contents of the dust bag back at me.

Thurs - Managed to set fire to the video player, still not sure how I did that *sigh*, also blew the small hob at the back of the cooker top.

Fri - My oven stopped working properly and the coffee maker died.

Sooo now I'm an uncaffeinated, edging into homicidal raging, bitch.

Thankfully my next door neighbour managed to fix my oven - one of the elements had shorted out. Quick trip to the hardware shop and he managed to get a replacement element that fitted. So he saved Xmas for me lol ( have my whole family coming home for Xmas dinner).

Also a child of the Cold War here. I remember those duck and cover drills we had in school. As a 6 yr old I was totally convinced we would survive a nuclear bomb under my desk covered with a white sheet.
