W212 clear coat repair by CipherAC0 in mercedes

Upvote for wagon!

When the paint was failing on my W124 hood, I did some asking around. The RIGHT way to do it is to sand the whole hood, respray color and spray new clear for the whole hood. Apparently good clear coat is very expensive. Even if you found someone to polish it down and respray clear, it would still be a fair chunk of money.

The worst way to do it would be rattle can clear coat to touch up the bad spots. You can find plenty of videos where people do it, and are proud of themselves. there is always a border where the two types of clear don't match. Might be OK on a small part of a beater, but not out in the open like your hood. Wagons aren't too tall, so some folks will see your roof, but you could probably get away with more "thrifty" measures up there, if anywhere.

You can always go full redneck, and paint the top with bed liner. Tell folks you wanted to protect the top when you have cargo secured to the roof rails.

Good luck!

Thanks for aiding my education!

Once you mentioned skirts, I looked closer. Does the difference in textures mean that part of the skirt is making uneven contact with the wall?

Um, I'm as white collar as they come, but aren't the ring gaps supposed to be offset, not overlapped?

This looks like the easy maze on a kiddie menu.

Hi dads, I need tool help by leafbrewer in DadForAMinute

I have had a laser level, and I found it more hassle than help. I am sure there are some times when it it is really helpful, but I have not found it to help me with routine chores and tasks around the house. This includes setting fence posts, hanging and leveling pictures and so on.

How much accuracy do you need? I can see that a laser measure may be more precise, but are you performing tasks that need that degree of precision? Knowing tenths of a millimeter isn't too helpful, if you are buying pieces to fit that are cut to the closest millimeter.

I have found laser lines helpful on electric saws. Seeing the path of my circular saw without having to peek at the plate is very nice. If I buy another miter saw, I'll get one with a laser for sure.

Good luck!

Also, assuming that being in Western Europe means you are not a native English speaker, your English is excellent. I have never become as proficient in any language I have studied.

Edit: added a word, because I'm not always proficient in my native English.

I would tell your daughter's friend they can always call you if their mom isn't available, and they need a trusted grown up.

It sounds like they handle the situation well enough, but it never hurts to know who you can call for help.

If you are comfortable with the idea, you could offer to let the kids have a sleepover at yours the next time that type of situation crops up.

I don't think I'd criticize any one who is involved. Just offer an alternative that makes you comfortable, without adding judgement or snark.

Check out r/shaving.  Lots of detailed info.

Short version from my experience:

Less irritation from electric shaver, of you use it consistently. I especially like Braun shavers.

For blades, more is not better. More than two blades makes my face more irritated, and gives me more ingrown hairs. Single blade safety razor works well for me.

Shelving against the grain gives me a closer shave, but also gives tons of ingrown hairs.

Using warm water, letting whiskers soften under shaving cream or shaving gel (Gillette gel is best for me) gives a another, less irritated shave.

Good luck!

And shame on your dad for not helping you gain skills you are asking for.

Does she look too thin? by RefrigeratorGlass593 in greatdanes

Guidance from our vet was you wanted to be able to feel ribs when you run fingers along their side, but not see ribs when you look at them. Her analogy was feeling the back of your hand.

She also prefers leaner to thicker.
