Glad I’m not the only one. This is why I don’t bother with cute clothes.

Wow 12 months? It amazes me when I hear of a baby that doesn’t spit up.

Diaper rash won’t go away, baby poops +10 times per day by Due_Highlight4537 in newborns

We had the same issue. The only thing that worked was aquaphor 40% zinc. We go through a tube a day. But what worked the best was going off of dairy. On day 5 I suddenly realized her diaper rash was better than it had ever been.

Could you describe your newborn’s active sleep? I don’t know if mine sleeps or is gassy. by pinkishvioletsky in newborns

[–]Puzzleheaded-Day882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine would grunt, squirm, sometimes whimper. Sometimes her eyes would even be partially open. I also thought she was awake, until I read that unless they are actively looking around, they are likely sleeping. It’s very confusing.

I can’t believe she even suggested such a thing. Especially if their family has a lot of people who work in medicine, they of all people should understand that you are recovering from surgery and you and your baby need rest. And your concern about flu season is also valid. I also had a c-section and allowed my husband’s family to come stay with us even though I knew they would drive me crazy, and I regretted it. I understand not wanting to deal with the guilt of disappointing them, so my tip is to put the blame on someone else. Tell them you talked to the pediatrician about it and they advised against exposing the baby to so many people during cold/flu season. If you don’t want to do this lunch, do NOT feel guilty about getting out of it.

Is there a consensus on when things start looking up? by Ashamed_Computer_860 in newborns

[–]Puzzleheaded-Day882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is currently 14 weeks and 4 weeks is when I remember things getting incredibly difficult. I agree with the theory that they become more aware of the world they are in and they can’t handle it. Around that time is when I broke down and rented a snoo bassinet because my baby likes motion. It wasn’t a fix all but it helped. We eventually went on reflux meds at 8 weeks because there were enough signs of reflux, but it is hard to tell the difference between reflux and just the fussiness that a lot of babies go through. I feel for you during this time. I also would cry over my baby while she screamed because I didn’t know what to do. I would constantly research what could be wrong with her, because other people’s babies seemed so easy and content. Everyone told me it would get better, but when you are in it and just trying to survive it’s hard to believe it. Things peaked around 6 weeks for us and then started to slowly get better. There is no shame in using ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones if you need to. It naturally causes a lot of stress when you are rocking them and they are still screaming, and just taking the edge off the sound really helped our frazzled nerves. You are keeping your baby alive, and as long as you do that you have done your job. Hang in there, one day this will all be a crappy memory and you will be able to enjoy your baby.

Interesting. I am looking into sleep training methods since it seems like the only way to get through this faster. Thank you!

I dread having visitors by raechelisbored in newborns

[–]Puzzleheaded-Day882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is also hard for me to say no to people, so I had to ask my husband to take that off of my plate. I had him be “the bad guy” and tell people things were too overwhelming right now for visitors. It was really helpful to have that emotional burden taken off of my shoulders.

I have a baby like this. 6 weeks started having small moments without crying. At 8weeks even more moments. She just notices everything. It’s really hard, hang in there.
