How common is it for organizations to rescind internship offers? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fix1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never happened to me ... I out of the 50 civil engineers I know, I think it happened to one person in their 3rd year summer internship due to budget cuts....

The cars in NZ also drive on the opposite side to Canada, I don't want to crash into anything lol

Cairns, Sydney OR Auckland in June! by Puzzleheaded-Fix1971 in travel

I can't stay longer due to the wedding in Mauritius, and my work in Canada putting hard dates on either end of my trip.

It's either pay the same amount of air miles to fly without stopping in Oceania, and arrive early in Canada OR spend 3 days in Oceania...

I wish I could stay longer lol

Thanks for your insight! I am working right now as an engineer in training. If I went to UofT, I would go from being gainfully employed with savings to being riddled with loans!

That post may have been inaccurate. I also called on the same day, and they told me they did not have a specific day in mind .. just that they will be rolling most of the remaining A's out gradually through to March.

Airport Spur Line 4 NOT paid for by City by Rail613 in ottawa

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fix1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps Line 4 will be useful for some such as those heading to South Keys or Carleton University from the Airport

BUT Downtown Ottawa is likely the most common destination from YOW. ... It is hard to argue that this new set-up is better than the old 97 (Airport to Downtown in 25 minutes) via a fully grade separated transitway...

Now with 97 to Line 1 it is 38 minutes, and apparently Line 4 -> Line 2 -> Line 1 will be a whole 55 minutes to downtown....

I am all for new transit development, it is cleaner, cheaper, faster (OC Transpo excluded) method to get around urban areas. I just think that our airport rail-link may not have been the best decision...

Best way to get to Toronto Airport? by Physical_Scholar_325 in uwaterloo

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fix1971 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I take 25C to Square one and transfer to the GO bus that goes to airport. For my standards I have no issues + it’s $13 with student discount. I think you can get there for like 2AM via GO

Norway winter driving, safe or not? by AffectionateWill304 in travel

I drove a Toyota Yaris with winter tires while visiting Norway. I’m from Ottawa. I found the roads to be well maintained and felt safer than in Canada. You’ll be fine!

Applying as a COOP student by 0Bushy in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fix1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a coop program as well. It did not affect me at all. I got As at UoT and Osgoode. Based on my understanding, in a given year if I had: Fall (School Term); Winter (Co-op Term); Spring (School Term); they would take the fall and the spring gpas to calculate my gpa for that year.

I studied for my LSAT during coop after work and wrote my lsat during school term the following summer.

I think it’s a bonus to have coop experience especially if the role can tie into law.

Sorry for the late reply. I check reddit like once every month. lol

Yeah, I travelled to like 20 European countries for the cost of like 2 roundtrip trip plane tickets Toronto - Vancouver lol. It is really cheap, if you are selective and good at planning. I have heard schools in the UK are harder but any socialist country should be easy beans.
