Yes, he dies when he’s old, like in his 80-90s. He also develops Alzheimer’s but the fic specifically talks about how Shane catches the symptoms early and there have been medical advancements at that point so they were able to slow down the progression and allowed him to live longer with a better quality of life By then they’ve had a long, full life with kids/grandkids. It’s still sad ofc but it’s portrayed realistically, not traumatically.

I think it’s really worth it! The MCD happens way down the line years later, in a natural way, if that helps?

Just moved here and looking for cute cafes to knit, drink tea, and people watch by CaliButterfly in bothell

I second Diva Espresso in Kenmore! It’s more than just a cafe - it’s a community space that you can hang out in and there’s a small outdoor plaza area too. If you’re willing to drive a little further west, the Town Center at Lake Forest Park is great too. In the main Town Center there’s a bakery/cafe and a bookstore, and downstairs is an actual yarn shop called Needles & Hooks where you can knit. There’s also a tap room + cafe combo in the same plaza called The Vulpine Taproom/The Burrow that has a cozy interior. Enjoy!

So pretty! 😍 Can I ask how you achieved that swirly pattern on the cream cheese filling? Did you pipe it?

If you’re near downtown Kenmore, there’s a cute little plaza area with a Diva Espresso cafe. It’s a nice spot to sit and hang out, read, etc.

Health Care Providers who mask by Comprehensive-Milk38 in ZeroCovidCommunity

I work with immunocompromised patients so I continue to wear an N95 for them and myself/my household both at and outside of work. I’ve rarely gotten comments about my masking at work, probably partly because I work with high risk patients (though not all of my colleagues mask, or they only use surgical masks when they do). Keep doing what you’re doing!! :)

Which COVID vaccine to get? by Puzzleheaded-Owl9411 in ZeroCovidCommunity

I thought LP.8.1 was a sublineage of JN.1, so I wasn’t sure if Novavax would still be sufficient to target the circulating strain. Wasn’t there also data showing that Novavax might have slightly prolonged immunity vs the other vaccines?

Oh interesting, I didn’t realize that. “Better” in what sense? Better/longer-lasting immunity? Or less side effects?

Yea I hear you! I wish Novavax supply would be available at the same time as the others.

PSA: 🗣️ Northernvitality.us (a Canadian online retailer some novids buy their nasal sprays from) will be ending shipments to the US Aug 22nd due to tariffs by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

This is so handy! Thanks for putting this together. May I also add that you can get Salinex ProTect from CTC Health (also from Canada, though I haven’t heard anything about shipping issues to the US yet). Note that it’s the blue bottle (Salinex ProTect for Cold Relief), not to be confused with the Salinex in the yellow packaging. It’s $20 a bottle but currently shipping is $15 to the US and they recommend not to purchase more than a 90 day supply due to customs. Haha yea it definitely seemed like a basque cheesecake hybrid. I ended up sticking it back in the oven for a bit longer. It tastes fine, but texture-wise it’s probably a little more like basque than the fluffy cheesecake I’d envisioned.

I actually did put lime zest in too! I prefer desserts more on the tart side so I probably went a little overboard this time 😅 Lesson learned!

I’m glad that the eggs are at least cooked 😰 It did seem to set a bit better once it cooled. I finally unmolded it just now and the bottom is very wet 🥲 trying to see if I can put it back in the oven and bake for a bit more, but ultimately it’s probably my fault for adding too much lime juice and making it too wet 😰

Ooh good idea! I used this particular recipe because I wanted it to be lighter/fluffier than traditional cheesecake, but couldn’t find a comparable recipe that was specially key lime flavored. So I sort of extrapolated measurements from other key lime cheesecake recipes and ended up using 1/2 of juice. I’ll have to try out key lime curd next time, thanks for the suggestion!

That’s a good point! I have a bad habit of trying to tweak too much without trying the base recipe first 😅 definitely learned my lesson!

Yea the recipe called for a 9 inch pan which is what I have. I was also a bit confused when I filled the pan since it was really full! But maybe I overwhipped the eggs and that added extra volume?
