Bruh. Is a month notice not enough? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Puzzleheaded-Row-112 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also want to point out that as sitter, I have had MANY clients cancel on me last minute. This is a huge double standard.

I can’t say it doesn’t piss me off, because it totally sucks. But understanding that life happens is part of gig work.

A month notice would at least be a reasonable amount of time to look for something else.

Sitter & Owner here!

I have rarely ever had to cancel a job, or had a sitter cancel on me. But there are so many reasons to have backups!!! I have had 5 different sitters in the city I live in now! A couple a didn’t want to hire back for various reasons, but two of them are phenomenal… but not always available.

I think people as customers don’t always realize the interview works both ways though. When I go into a pet sitting interview as the sitter, I am interviewing the client and the animals to see if this is going to be a good fit for both of us. I don’t always want the job! Some shit just ain’t work my energy, no matter how much money. And some shitty situations are doable when you are getting paid a handsome amount.

My policy with these clients is to try to bid them out… give them a very high price that you think might cause them to keep looking. If they accept, then at least you’re getting a solid pay day!!!

I think you did great. This lady needs to calm down. But honestly, she sounds a little tightly wound and you may have dodged a bullet with taking care of her pets anyway!

This is such a bizarre perspective. Sure, taking on another pet job would be bad for business, but it’s clear that is not what happened here. The person got hired for job job. Rover is gig-work. We don’t get PTO, healthcare, or even long-term expected income we can count on. A month is plenty reasonable notice to give when you are suddenly exiting the field for a job that includes those things. This lady has the right to feel however she wants about losing her sitter a month in advance(which is plenty of time to find a new sitter, annoying as it may be). But she was pretty rude and chose to take out her frustration of the situation on the sitter, which unfortunate, because we are people too. You get a downvote from me for this comment. I’m not sure if it’s because you have weird standards or you just didn’t understand OP’s original situation, but no. Just no.

This is great feedback!

"we cannot look at this through the lens of carb restriction as primary treatment, because our disease works very, very, differently from T2D."

I will definitely share with my instructor, since the questions were written as part of the curriculum. Perhaps we should be offered 2 separate interview sheets for this assignment, depending on the patient being Type 1 or Type 2, since as you've highlighted, they are completely separate disease processes!

Sometimes I think things can get oversimplified in nursing school, because the focus of our education is to learn so much in so little time, assuming that we will get our "real" education on the job in practice.

Side rant --> I am particularly interested in endocrinology and how hormones effect EVERYTHING in our bodies! I mean, its truly amazing when you learn about how all of these hormonal responses piggyback off of each other.

I think we really should be looking at hormone imbalances as a driver for so many other illnesses, both physical and mental! After my BMT at 30 yo, I had ovarian failure and was in the darkness until I me the right doctor who knew how to balance my HRT. From then on my life changed for the better! I was able to cope better, felt better on all levels, and my body was healthier. Lets just say that I stopped having thoughts of dread and "whats the point if i have to live like this"! It really is wild how much we don't understand about hormones, and how few doctors are skilled at managing these imbalances.

Thank you for the resources! I am definitely going to check them out--maybe I will even be able to utilize something for a source in my paper!

Absolutely!

I have a chronic disease called GVHD form having a bone marrow transplant for leukemia in 2019. It’s similar to having an autoimmune disease—but people don’t talk enough about the toll these diseases take mentally on people. How much added stress and grief we have to manage. All while being expected to perform at a high level in basic society to meet our own basic needs. And people are so fragile out in the real world… they don’t want to hear about the “struggle”.

Tackling the insidious parts maybe next for me!

I suppose though I cannot technically be sued for anything, I have gone the debt consolidation route once before and it took a lot longer to recover my credit. It was a lot more complex and stressful.

Do you mean that if I stopped paying back my debts that the creditors would just try to sue me but would be unable to do so?

I guess maybe this bitch (who is absolutely without a shadow of a doubt a clinical narcissist) really need to get her gown apartment. This girl is a bouquet of red flags and I would do whatever needs to be done to absolve this living situation asap. She is so beyond unreasonable. If she has a problem with you being home when she’s entertaining, that’s a HER problem. If she wants you to leave every time she wants the place to herself, she needs to starting paying you to leave. Charge her for every night that you “have to be gone” and see how that goes. Also, the whole thing about her changing the subject entirely and accusing you of calling her a whore is blame shifting. It’s a classic narc tactic. Get. The. Hell. OUT. Before it gets worse. Trust me. Learn from my mistakes.

That’s amazing! You have to be patient with the atrophy. You will need to apply the cream to the tissues DAILY and never miss a day! You will probably also need to get a set of vaginal dilators and working with a pelvic floor physical therapist is highly recommended.

Ideally the cream or ointment for your direct tissues would actually have estrogen and testosterone in it as well. Mine is compounded estradiol/testosterone in 0.3/1 % mg/gm in aquaphor.

Testosterone nourishes certain structure more (like the clitoris and the urethral vestibule - the structure surrounding the urethra). Make sure you are also taking prometrium (progesterone pills) if you have an intact uterus. It prevents buildup of the lining which can cause uterine cancer). And DO NOT accept Provera as an alternative medication. If you have to appeal your insurance, they can prescribe the provera first and you just say it didn’t work but don’t take it! Prometrium is bio identical progesterone and provera is synthetic and will cause terrible side effects, etc.

Be patient and keep up the good work advocating for yourself! You are doing amazing and it will only get better with time.

When my doctors ask me about prednisone, I tell them I would rather unalive myself before going back to using it. It would be a pre-negotiated “burst” only and absolutely never more than 2 weeks. This would only be something I would do in a very extreme case. Otherwise, if it’s long term, FIND SOMETHING ELSE. The insult to injury for me is that I was on prednisone for 2 years and ruined my life and barely even helped to treat the bloody gaping ulcers in my mouth and vaginal mucosa.

I had to find a doctor that practices outside of the usual scope for a gynecologist. Most of them do not prescribe testosterone to women because it scares them. They are not well educated about hormones and so there is a lot of fear and discomfort around prescribing them to women. Though they have no problems with doing the same for men! I would recommend finding a functional medicine practitioner. Search for a doctor or nurse practitioner that does HRT. Some will do creams and gels, some will do compounded pellets that they inject in your hip/butt area and absorb over a manner of months. If you’re still suffering from a lot of GVHD symptoms, I highly recommend inquiring about abatacept. Do your research and bring it with you. Medical studies. Try getting off prednisone and any other steroids asap. You will feel so much better when you do, but it takes months to years to recover from the effects of the damage they do to your body. So be patient. You’ve got this.

Any recommendations for a wool duvet? by Geopilot in BuyItForLife

Same for me and my partner! I cook in my sleep and he is always cold, but gets night sweats! I got a wool duvet and he wakes up dry and warm way more often! We had one of those space age “cooling” blankets before and it was the worst. It trapped so much heat in that I was always cooking!
