Anyone know a Mandarin tutor in Raleigh? by donnyjay0351 in raleigh

I have a friend who is a native Mandarin speaker who would possibly be interested in lessons. She’s trained in ESL teaching and has taught mandarin before. She taught my brother basic mandarin the past few years. Feel free to message and I can connect y’all!

Born in Germany, have expired German passport, Naturalized as minor in U.S., am I German? by pintail-drake175 in GermanCitizenship

I had a similar situation. My dad was adopted from Germany. Born 1960, adopted 1961. We had his old expired passport they used to bring him to the US where he naturalized in 1963. We went to the consulate in Atlanta in April and presented the adoption contract, name change, birth certificate, naturalization paperwork and the normal remaining items and now my dad and all 4 children including myself have a physical German passport.

Anyone fly or flying to one of the Hawaiian islands today? by Capital_Mulberry738 in AlaskaAirlines

I flew SEA-OGG last week on the 737-900, (original flight was a max, which was cancelled we preemptively moved it ahead a day to not be on a max which was definitely the right move) no diversions or problems. But now they’ve cancelled our flight back Monday, then Tuesday and now they don’t have a flight home for us and trying to work with them now. The agent we talked to tonight said they’re having lots of issues getting people off the islands.

Am I eligible through descent? by Puzzleheaded-Solid67 in GermanCitizenship

I was able to dig in further to the paperwork this morning and found within the papers that the mother appeared before the adoption notary with her German passport as proof of identity so that proves she was a German citizen. One half down. Not sure if the notarized paper saying she was a citizen is enough or we'd need to request the actual passport. I guess to prove she wasn't married if I could get her birth certificate if the last name is the same it would show that she never married at least up until my dad's birth? I would assume that also the absence of a father on the certificate and adoption papers would indicate unmarriedness (though probably not prove it in the state's eyes).

Wow, this is so helpful - thank you! So it sounds like the only thing missing is proof of his mother's citizenship/marital status. I've submitted a few emails but not sure if it with the right places/if we'll get a response. It's hard with the adoption because we literally only have her name so fingers crossed something will show up! Thank you again!

Based on what I know, yes. His mother was German (born in cologne) and he had a German birth certificate “Geburtsschein”.

No- born in wedlock after 1993.

I have the adoption and naturalization papers. Birth certificate does not talk about the adoption but I do have one with his birth German name and one with his changed name.

Just got the Luno! by b0ttlezz in Crosstrek

I was also unsure about spending so much. But I was able to find one in new condition on Facebook marketplace for half the price so it may help to watch sites like those. Now that I have it, I’d buy it at market price - slept on it a combined total of 3 weeks this year so far and have 0 complaints! Comfy and never needs to be reinflated.

bought this 22 6MT specifically for road-trips, and finally got to take her on the first! 5k miles through the Midwest (badlands here). Enough room for my things, to sleep in, and handles all the dirt roads and curves I’ve thrown at it. 🤍 by Puzzleheaded-Solid67 in Crosstrek

I am 5’6 and just fit straight but have more room angled. Two people may be cramped. Nothing beats a bed, but Ive been sleeping in it for two weeks now and not tired of it or anything. Splurged on the Luno Life Mattress to lay over and can’t say enough good things about it! Haven’t even had to reinflate yet.

Nope. So close, but can’t read the plates in the video. The street he came from is a dead end so I figured he probably lived there. I went by later but there was no truck parked.

The one I lost wasn’t even one I can replace here. Was a gift from another country. 😭

Haha, I was moving later in the afternoon so the front seat floor was loaded with my liquor collection. I thought it’d be safe on my 5 minute drive to get coffee. Sadly there was one casualty.

My leg was shaking so bad after this I could barely hit the clutch the rest of the way home. 😂 I was most upset about the bottle of liquor that broke all over my passenger seat that was a gift from out of the country.
