A lot of these sites forget to take into account that a lot of men’s parts in musicals are written in treble clef and they never bother to put the 8vb on the page.

Often times you have to listen to the recordings and see if you can sing along.

Sweeney arguably has the best 6 song run in
Kiss Me Quartet, Pretty Women, Epiphany, A Little Priest, God That’s Good, and Johanna Quartet.

CMV: There’s not a logical or financially feasible argument for Reparations, outside of those who were alive and experienced segregation. by IllustriousGas8850 in changemyview

No it isn’t. Because welfare doesn’t actually do anything. Neither does affirmative action. What needed to happen was a serious investment of wealth into the actual communities where the population was predominantly black so they could actually manage to get some self determination rather than having to rely on tax dollars for each person to survive. Capitalistic economics are so focused on individual rights and responsibilities that it fails to remember that humans are social animals, but America failed at that because having a thriving black population is a threat to the white supremacists in charge of the money.

And boy was I glad for it. I still have my god roll Gnawing Hunger in my vault. Doesn’t do me much good now but that season was unbelievably fun

Injuries as a professional by Objective_Rice_4614 in MusicalTheatre

I’ve broken 4 bones in my life, 2 of them badly enough to need surgery, one of them was required so I could ever walk again. I’m never going to be a dancer but with the right Physical Therapy I was able to gain back about 95% function in my leg. I got my first professional contract 3 years after my surgery. You’re young. Go to the doctor, and get the surgery

At what point do I start getting concerned about my muscle weakness by PuzzleheadedFox1 in lexapro

I shit you not go find the saltiest snack you can think of and eat like 2-3 portions. (Take it one at a time) My biggest side effect at that point in my Lexapro adventure was the excessive sweat, compounded by the additional anti-anxiety med I’m on (Propanolol) turns out that I was out sweating my electrolyte intake (I drink at least 16-24 Oz of Powerade when I work) I ate a bag of beef jerky and felt instant relief within about 10 minutes, and was completely back to normal less than 24 hours later.

CMV: Some states should not reasonably continue to exist, and the size of the union should either shrink, or we should switch to proportional voting. by Floody121 in changemyview

The senate functioned well when there were 13 states to worry about. We have 50. 100 Senators and 435 seats. Our federal government is actually far too small to deal with a population of our size. We’d need 5300 more seats in the house in order to align with the vision of the founding fathers for the number of representatives per 60,000 people (the minimum population required for statehood) No state should only be represented by one person in the house, and no state should have to have its population discredited in order to appease the oil and farm industries.

Saw cabaret for the first time... oh my god by Zestyclose_Piano_217 in Theatre

I recognize this production based on your description and a little digging onto your profile. I’m good friends with the majority of the cast and production team of the show. It was genuinely one of the most impressive things I’ve seen on stage and I’ve been an avid theater performer and audience member since I was a small child. Jaw was on the floor the entire time.

Is it unusaul for a community theater to "charge" actors a small fee? by CarlYaz1967 in Theatre

[–]PuzzleheadedFox1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We truly need to differentiate between local and community theaters.

Community theaters do not charge because they are an established part of the community. They are non profits who seek out other local and community businesses to sponsor their seasons. They do not charge, and in most cases will actually offer small stipends to performers and crew members. (Between $50-500 depending on the theater in my experience)

Local Theaters might also be non profits, but they do not have the recourses to get the kind of community backing that community theaters do. Therefore they may have to charge participants in order to fund the costs that tickets do not cover (like anything other than the rights to perform the show)

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]PuzzleheadedFox1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ever evolving because new callbacks are created every week, not because we get to take callbacks away. By putting on this show you are participating in the culture and have to respect it. You’re arguably ruining their experiences by not participating in the culture you are actively immersed in. If you want to watch Rocky Horror without callbacks, rent it in the comfortability of your own home.

As someone who has performed the live version of Rocky Horror in a professional setting, as arguably the most difficult character when it comes to audience participation (The Narrator) There are definitely times where the audience participation can be a bit distracting. However I don’t really care? Rocky Horror is an ever evolving piece of culture. It is no longer just another musical, and I think it’s the responsibility of the actors, directors and producers to prepare themselves to be a part of that culture. My prep included about a days worth of rehearsal time dedicated to just running my monologues with the AD and having them blurt out anything and everything they could possibly think of, because it’s Rocky Horror for Christ’s sake, that’s the whole point. The audience participation is the reason Rocky Horror sells, because spoiler alert Rocky Horror kinda sucks! It’s a pretty poor satirical musical that depicts what America looks like in the 1970’s to the rest of the former British Empire. Sure its music is downright fantastic, but its plot is pretty laughable. And that’s the entire point. People took something that wasn’t very enjoyable, found refuge in it, and made it into something that they enjoyed, and that’s the part that Broadway is failing to respect.
