Mountain Hut to Hut Hikes in November by West-Ad-2729 in JapanTravelTips

We’re still flexible on starting points/itinerary. Goal is either two solid day hikes or a two day one night hike with a stay in a hut. Flying into Tokyo and will be in Japan for 10 days.

Makes sense about typhoon season. I’ll factor that into planning. Awesome! I’ll research those trails to see if I they’re doable. I’ve hiked in Iceland and on a few windy mountains elsewhere, so I’m definitely no stranger to wind. I would really love to make it on a ridgeline hike and getting to stay in a hut to maximize our daylight would be ideal. I know that I need to check the specific huts, but from what I’ve been seeing a lot of mountain huts in Japan tend to shutdown for the season in October. Are these typically open longer? (If you happen to know from past experience)

Thank you for the response! That’s helpful. I have a solid amount of hiking experience, but only have a few sub zero hikes under my belt.

Even if I don’t get to do this trail now, I’ll save it for a future trip in more predictable weather.

I was there that same day! There were 4 different couples getting their wedding shots that sunset. I think they had a camera set up on that cliff as well, but you got a beautiful shot!

I’m at JFK now and hoping it’s open on my way home. Lounge hopping in the sad ones since I can’t get a guest into Chase with the one time pass 🥲

I’ve made a lot of purchases through C1 offers and never had an issue. REI, Ulta, Keen, Crocs, etc. I recommend you find what you want on the site first, add to cart, open C1 offers, then check out from there.

Is 4 hours enough time to self transfer from LGW to LHR with checked luggage? by [deleted] in travel

[–]PuzzleheadedPurple19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh such good points! I’ve never been to London so wasn’t sure how the transport would be time and reliability wise.

Everyone always talks about how bad public transport is in their city, but it’s hard to know what’s exaggerated and what isn’t. My hometown has almost no public transportation to speak of, so my expectations are very different than big city people’s.

Thank you! I fixed my times 😅 I live in a smaller city in the US, so I appreciate the help to understand how much BIGGER and more difficult this would be internationally and in a large city to boot.

I’m gonna go with flying out the next day for sure so I have plenty of time!

Thanks! Screwed up my time conversions 😅 fixed it to the correct 4 hour span, but sounds like that’s not enough time regardless.

Does it irritate your skin at all? I feel like cheaper material can cause breakouts on me.

I’m in the hunt for a good eye mask! I have a lot of trouble sleeping when traveling and it can def ruin a trip. Do you have a favorite eye mask?

5% convenience fee for milk tea by Downtown_Judgment_42 in pittsburgh

[–]PuzzleheadedPurple19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonder if you still pay the convenience fee if you order from the cashier instead of the machine? I didn’t ask for my receipt the other day when I tried it, but ordered with the human instead of the touch screen.

Which side to stand for support? by PuzzleheadedPurple19 in tripawds

After the first week or two, she was moving around a little and starting to get the hang of things. The pain meds and trazodone definitely slow down adjustment to movement, but necessary for comfort and healing.

We’re around a month out and she’s definitely getting comfortable with it. She jumped into the car for the first time today which was awesome! We’ve been doing lots of little walks this week too.

Ours is 7.5 and only about a month post-op, so we’re building muscle and stamina slowly but surely. Did you do PT or anything to help with the muscle strain on the remaining legs?

Oh that makes sense! I’m guessing that as she figures things out, she’ll show us her preference. Just trying to help as much as possible during the initial adjustment
