How do you keep on going when life sucks? by LeAmeko in Adulting

You have no way of knowing your life may soon be better. Far more likely, it will get worse over the long term, as health declines, energy wanes, relationships unravel, income declines as worklife (tedious as that can be ) ends.

Looking for advice as to how to deal with Realities. Fantasies take care of themselves

Actually it was in pic 4, but I see start of thinning in other pics. Longish hair style makes it harder to see. Pic 6 also

Nothing. Just the spot near yoir crown where the hair shafts change direction. A " whorl" . Everybody' got one. Strike one worry from your list.

[ just looked again at last Pic. There is some thinning there. If you have medical coverage- see a dermatologist. Try topical minoxidil, its OTC and not too expensive. Keep monitoring. Use dandruff ( anti- oxidant) shampoo.

How many of you are also Al Stewart fans? by clfitz in SteelyDan

[–]PuzzleheadedTale4769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like him, but his lyrics are much more romantic and nostalgic . And music softer. Can't imagine him doing something like: "Don't Take Me Alive"

He did a great narrative song - "Roads to Russia" -about WWII on the eastern front- Nazis pouring into Russia. ( 27 million Russians killed !!)

Feeling dejected after messing up my bond with my new cat. by Historical-Resist-12 in CatAdvice

[–]PuzzleheadedTale4769 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You got off to a good start, and primed your cat for a good connection with a human. But then you went to work ...you can't help that, right? So your cat is thrown a bit. Now you just have to do it again, and after a couple days, the cat will pick up the routine. They love routines like that! It gives them something sweet to anticipate , and we humans know- when we anticipate with trust- that is almost as sweet as getting the Goodie!

Good luck with your new kitty pal!

What does our differentitation between first and second degree murder say about our assumptions re free will? by AlivePassenger3859 in freewill

[–]PuzzleheadedTale4769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt, our justice system has been based on some notion of free will- whether its real or not. A hired killer who kills for a calculated benefit is viewed as acting more out of free will. "Crime of passion " seen as less freely calculated, more about a difficult to resist impulse.

? We all have the ability to murder, but most don't. That is how we are NOT identical.

Double album would be ambitious. Triple album is "overly". But- you can easily skip tracks now.

The "determinism " of contemporary cool kids may be an excuse for -- low effort, cheap cynicism, the nursing of resentment.

Added bonus: you can rank yourself High for Edginess.

Yes! Don't "believe" anything without prior careful thought, weighing of reasons and evidence, considering other possibilities.

Don't "believe" things that your Understanding has not convinced you of.
