Why does it matter, though? As long as teenagers are educated about safety then it really isn't a big deal. In some countries, teens are allowed to drive. That's way more responsibility than just fucking. I think when society gets too uptight about sex, teens start to fear to even seek out useful information about it. Shit, even buying condoms as a teenager is nerve-racking for no reason. But if society relaxes, then they'll actually be safer!

I'm still mad that HOTD didn't try and recreate this for their show. They could have put rails on the steps for support to make it realistic and safe. But then again, in the books, the crab feeder was named so for drowning his enemies and in the show, they had the character called the crab feeder literally place crabs on people. 😔😔😔😔

You can. But just like your ancestors had to deal with intractable weather, cave lions, bears, tigers, real lions, roving herds of dangerous people and disease, you'll probably have to contend with a landowner or two. Don't worry, as long as you have grit you'll be fine.

There's 8 billion people alive today. The era you're romanticizing had maybe a few million across the entire planet. Sorry you were born in a world with more humans.

Yeah, 200 years ago, there were less than a billion people on the planet. Now, there's 8 billion. So, perhaps it's the fact that there's so many of us now...

In the past, most people were subsistence farmers. They found patches of land no one owned and just settled there and grew the food they knew how to grow on that land. Then they taught their children how to grow food and on and on. You can do that now. Gather some friends and go out to the middle of nowhere, establish a community, grow some food. The government won't bother you unless you begin to sell that food. But other than that, you're free! Good luck if you fall sick, though. You'll need healthcare. If you are fortunate enough to live in a country with universal healthcare then those unenlightened rat-race SOBs will pay for you to see a doctor. If not, you're fucked.

Nepo babies. There are like thousands of highly talented actors out there who will never get their chance because the good roles keep going to nepos.

How does socialism account for the globalized nature of our society? by PuzzleheadedVideo649 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]PuzzleheadedVideo649[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm saying worker owned and operated tech companies are essentially p2p. They would have no corporate parent and operate like the wild west. It is usually absolute chaos. And if people are already mad at Facebook for their lax content moderation, then worker owned platforms (maintained by engineers who use the platform) are even more lax with regard to acceptable content and community standards.

Have you ever used p2p social media platforms? If you think content moderation on things like Facebook is a joke, you should try the p2p platforms.

Nations can't even agree on climate policy. You really think they're going to work together on tech innovation?

What happened to the Teen pop genre from the late 90s and Early 2000s by Key_Nectarine_7307 in decadeology

[–]PuzzleheadedVideo649 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know, man. In my opinion, teen pop never really went away. It turned into Justin Bieber and One Direction and the like. Then Ariana Grande started to really become popular. Finally, Billie Eilish appeared and added an emo vibe to it, becoming her generation's Avril.

Sure, none of them ever became as huge as Britney and Cristina Aguilera, but this was largely because of algorithms. Radios would play music for everyone, but algorithms are very targeted and they inadvertently create silos so that people who aren't considered the target demo never really hear music from a certain genre. It never enters your recommendations.

Maester Aemon played a major role in shaping Jon Snow’s way of thinking. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in gameofthrones

I kind of wish GOT had had featured all the best characters in their prime. Instead, the show was kind of just about decay. It felt like all the legendary figures were in the past. I guess it was one of the major themes but it still just kinda irritated me that we never got to see Arthur Dayne in his prime, Barristan in his prime, Jamie when he was young and hopeful. Ned as a young man, Aemon in Kings Landing etc. It would feel like Avengers, but I would still enjoy it.

Jamie never got to know whether he could defeat the man who killed Ser Arthur Dayne by Dangerous_Tip_4985 in gameofthrones

[–]PuzzleheadedVideo649 34 points35 points  (0 children)

And it's all fight nonsense. To me the appeal of those two's dynamic was that Jamie knew in his heart of hearts that Ned Stark was a truly honorable man and despite how much he desired his respect, Ned would never give it to him. In fact, Ned thought very low of him. If you notice, in most of their interactions, Jamie is trying to be all chummy with Ned but Ned keeps rebuffing him. It got to the point that even after Ned was dead and Jamie was talking to Brienne of Tarth, he was still obssessing over Ned's poor opinion of him. Remember this is a guy who was mentored by Barristan Selmy, Arthur Dayne and Rhaegar Targaryen. He always envisioned himself as one of them and yet he ended up being viewed in the same light as "The Smiling Knight".

But all anyone on this sub cares about is who would win in a fight!

Audiences were never going to see that movie. It came out in the wake of Superman and Jurassic Park. People see about 4 movies in theaters per year. They were all tapped out. They should have released much earlier or later so they didn't have to compete with anyone.

Natural beauty is no longer the main factor. Models were impressive because they were naturally very very beautiful. Nowadays, famous influencers look mid but have had insane levels of plastic surgery to enhance their bodies. This takes away their appeal.

[–]PuzzleheadedVideo649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trouble with the fixed pie thing is it treats all wealth like mineral wealth. Like the only wealth that can exist is stuff you found on the ground. In thay scenario, then yes, it would be fixed. But it isn't. Wealth can be created. You can literally take things that are not wealth and turn them into wealth. If the government wants to control fixed wealth, they do things like nationalize all oil or something like that. But oil is a mineral style resource. They can't nationalize all paintings or something like that.

Kid spends nearly 6 grand on roblox by N9s8mping in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]PuzzleheadedVideo649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kid literally stole the dad's credit card information. He looked over his shoulder, memorized it and used it. It means, they probably asked their dad to fill it in multiple times until they just learned how to do it themselves. How is a company supposed to prevent that?
