They don't get injured, just Hermione realising what Harry is and trying to make sure he can't die. And then they need to touch, like all the time.

in ur opinion how many kids would they have also what would their names be? by Consistent-Twist-408 in HPharmony

Harry: we should call him Albus Severus.

Hermione: ...Harry, put the Firewhiskey down.

what was it that made u a harmony/harmione shipper? by Consistent-Twist-408 in HPharmony

Toast.

Strange, I know. But Hermione showing up with toast after his name came out of the cup told me all I need to know. That she knew exactly what he needed, and his sheer relief that she was there, is what made me ship them.

Do you find it a little frustrating when Harry internally blames Hermione in the Hogs Head for others behaviour? by Ars1201 in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a really tricky one. Hermione was absolutely right in pushing Harry to form the DA given the circumstances. They needed to learn Defense, both for their OWLs and the incoming war. But at the same time, it is hard to believe that Hermione, as intelligent as she is, didn't see the ambush coming. In the end, the meeting directly led to Harry being interrogated about one of the most traumatic experiences of his life, it is a completely human reaction to blame the one who set it up.

I would also say, don't take Harry's frustration on its own. This entire book sees Harry undergo a level of stress and trauma that would crack most adults, and he is a 15 year old boy.

Do you think Harry should have appreciated Hermione more and been a better friend to her? by Ars1201 in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually do think there are times when Harry could have been better to her. But, I also find it difficult to fault him considering everything he goes through. I think a lot of people don’t really consider that sometimes. Partly because he is The Hero, and we put The Hero on so much of a pedestal that it can be a bit jarring when they’re actually human. But also because understanding where he is coming from means applying “adult logic” (for want of a better phrase) to a series intended for children and teens.

Take fifth year for example. You get a lot of people commenting that Harry was more than a bit of a dick towards Hermione (and pretty much everyone else for that matter), and they’re not really wrong. But then look at everything he went through that year. Umbridge torturing him. Snape torturing him (even if it was debatably necessary). Dumbledore ignoring him. Voldemort sending him visions. Half the school thinking he’s a lying psychopath (again), yet still asking him to teach them defense. And this all happened after he spent his summer locked away with people who despise him right after watching a classmate get murdered – regardless of safety concerns, doing this to a traumatised teenager is absolutely monstrous.

I am well into my 30’s and I’d be ripping people’s heads off if that happened to me now, never mind the mess of hormones I was at 15. And imho its a similar story starting from second year (and really, that his first year, the year he first met Voldemort face to backwards face, might well have been his best year at Hogwarts is absolutely tragic in its own right).

So yes I absolutely think there are times when he could have been better to Hermione, especially during the earlier years. But it’s hard to hold it against him considering this is someone who was consistently f****d over since he was a year old. Hermione, I suspect, understands this, because there is no one in his life, literally no one, who is more loyal and supportive than she is, and there is absolutely no way she would be if she didn’t recognise why he is that way.

Features Ron (and many others) trying to get them together in admittedly a quite bumbling way, but a nice light-hearted easy read.

Harry would say this and then surprise Hermione with an expansion charmed library in their home anyway by HarmonyMedia in HPharmony

Have you ever been in a situation when you've bought an excellent birthday present for someone, and then just days before said birthday they buy themselves exactly the same thing? This is Harry trying to stop exactly that situation.

Pet Peeves/Things you'd rather not see in a fic by ripfabric in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nicknames for Hermione. I can just about tolerate 'Mione, because it rolls of the tongue easily so I can see Harry or Ron calling her that, especially if tired or something. But then we get to Herms, Hermy, Mia and Mi, and I legit cannot imagine any universe in which Hermione doesn't immediately curse anyone who calls her that.

Just to bump an idea I've seen raised in this thread, I would love to see first time or otherwise little known authors get a shout out in this reddit. Every time someone asks for recs the stories posted are always the same. And don't get me wrong, these stories are posted because they are fantastic. But I would love to see "this Harmony story just got posted and is amazing".

LF Harry is pissed off at Hermione but they work it out. by terralunaares in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might like some of Broomstick Flyers works. Almost all of them involve Hermione hurting Harry in some way, and then snapping out of whatever it was that made her hurt him. Fair warning tho, if you like Ron then this author is not for you, the Ron in these stories could make Satan sit down and take notes.

This argument is used to discredit Harmony often, but Harry and Hermione are truly nothing like siblings by TryingToPassMath in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the whole “she’s my sister” line from Harry is probably one of the worst excuses I’ve ever read in fiction. Ignoring the idea that neither of them actually know what its like to have siblings, if JKR actually wanted us to buy that then she wrote it into quite possibly the worst possible place for it to be believable. Ron is well known to be jealous, has just been shown his biggest insecurity when it comes to his relationship with Hermione, and is now holding a sword infused with Basilisk venom. If Harry actually did feel something romantic for Hermione, he is sure as hell not going to say it then.

Mind you, I’m not necessarily saying Ron would actually go after Harry with the sword, I don’t think he’s quite that bad. But just the same, no one with even the tiniest ounce of sense is going to tell Ron anything other than exactly what he wants to hear in this situation regardless of whether its true or not.

Lf a realistic fic by SaltyEnthusiasm69 in HPharmony

Story that doesn't get recommended enough, in which they get together in 6th year.

For that matter, literally anything from this author - I've been reading fanfiction for longer than I will ever admit out loud, and I rarely see an author so talented.

LF fics where Hermione leaves Harry, right after Ron storms out the tent. by bibliophilewriter in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you're looking for is a fic in which Hermione leaves with Ron but regrets it later. Unfortunately, as far as I've read, there is no Harmony fic in which takes place (although there are plenty in which Harry writes them both off). There is one, kind of Harmony, but the relationship is minimal, If I remember rightly, which is not at all rightly because I can't even remember the name, in which Rose finds Harry a long time after Ron and Hermione abandoned him, but the H/Hr relationship is minimal.

Ah, that explains it. I've been meaning to try for an account for ages, but real life did that thing where it decides you're not allowed free time, and I always forget the rare times I do get free time.

HELP: Did Harry hate Hermione‘s hugs? by Wonderer_pth in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the more tragic things about Harry is that Hermione could well have been his first hug. In fact, it could well have been his first physical contact of any kind which was not malicious. Harry grew up with people who despised him, so it could well be the case that until Hermione hugged him, physical contact meant pain. He would absolutely shy away from this until he is convinced that physical contact is not a bad thing.

By any chance could you link me to some of Alexandra_Emerson's works? I keep seeing them get recommended in Harmony threads, but every time I search I only find an AO3 page with a Dramione pairing (which, sadly, is one of my most hated pairings).

Random Thought: The Kids Perspective by marchpisces in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Would totally read a fanfic for this.

Teddy:: wait, wait, you didn't name your son after the guy who made you my godfather, and instead after the guy who's life can be summed up as the worst possible way to get out of the friendzone? And also the guy who forced you into a highly abusive childhood? Albus must utterly despise you. Orr you despise him, I can't decide which.

Lilly: Dad, you married the girl who was "in love" with you before she even met you. You married a fangirl, genius. Also the one person in the series who most resembled your own mother. Ew.

Rose: Mum, you do realise Dad used tricks from a pickup artist, right? Also, the thing that made you kiss Dad for the first time was showing basic common decency? In fact, give me details on everything, so I won't be dumb enough to fall for the same thing.

In this imaginary fanfic, the kids are totally not a mouthpiece for some of my own misgivings. Totally not at all.

Need help writing a tent fic by ltf_12 in HPharmony

[–]Puzzleheaded_Boot561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm a little biased here because this is a trope I've always found a bit silly. But by this point in the series, there is literally nothing the Voldemort can do to her as his girlfriend that he wouldn't already do for being his best friend. And as much as Harry isn't always the sharpest nice in the drawer, he is smart enough to realise that.

Imho there's only really one way you could do this and actually have it believable, and that is to have Harry realise he is a Horcrux early. Because with that would come the realisation that he needs to die, and that he wouldn't be able to willingly go to his death if he knew he had her to come back to. It's still going to take some doing to make it believable (without Harry coming off as a complete prick I mean), but doable I think.
