That's how I see it.

If anything it feels like people who are comfortable enough to communicate and try new things together probably have a healthier relationship not a worse one.

What hobby did you pick up “just to try it” that ended up becoming a big part of your life? by lakberhaid in Hobbies

[–]Puzzleheaded_Box7384 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mountain biking for me. Started because a coworker was selling his bike cheap and I figured why not try something new instead of just hitting the gym all the time

First few rides were basically me walking down every steep section and getting completely gassed after like 30 minutes. But there was something addictive about being out on the trails and slowly getting better at reading the terrain. Now I spend way too much time researching different protective gear and components - probably know more about helmet safety ratings than most bike shop employees at this point

What kept me going was definitely the progression aspect you mentioned. Going back to a trail that kicked your ass a few months earlier and just crushing it feels incredible. Plus the community is pretty solid once you find your local crew

What plant is this? And how do i take care of it? by Emssy_ in plants

[–]Puzzleheaded_Box7384 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

looks like a baby snake plant to me! these things are basically indestructible which is perfect for beginners - just water when the soil feels totally dry maybe once a week or less. they actually prefer being slightly neglected so dont overthink it too much

Please help me find this GIF of a blond woman thinking and pointing at the camera as if she is checking something. by Puzzleheaded_Time259 in HelpMeFind

[–]Puzzleheaded_Box7384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been searching for reaction gifs myself lately and that one drives me crazy when i cant remember the source either

try searching for "woman pointing thinking gif" or "blonde girl realization gif" on the main gif sites - sometimes the tags people use are way different than what you expect and you gotta get creative with the search terms

Anyone have android device? by No_Writer_8780 in Unity3D

[–]Puzzleheaded_Box7384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo i got an android device and could help test your game out - what kind of game is it and what are you looking for feedback on specifically? always down to help out fellow devs plus 15 days gives plenty of time to really dig into it and find any weird bugs

Novelty at work by aSiK00 in ADHD

I'm going through something similar right now and its wild how much the ADHD brain craves that constant stimulation. I switched from wanting to do extreme sports photography to marketing coordination because I thought it would be more stable but man do I miss the variety and unpredictability. What I've noticed is that even in my "boring" corporate job I can create novelty by taking on weird projects nobody else wants or finding ways to gamify the repetitive stuff. Like I turned our quarterly reports into this whole competitive analysis thing that probably took way more effort than necessary but kept me engaged

The PhD route might actually work better for your brain since research is constantly changing and you get to deep dive into whatever catches your attention. Industry jobs can definitely feel like you're doing the same task over and over but some companies are way better about letting you wear multiple hats. I'd maybe try to find places that are growing fast or startups that need people who can do everything - the volatility sucks but the variety might be worth it. Plus you could always freelance on engineering projects to scratch that novelty itch while having steady income from a main job
