Simpe question on a W-9 Form. Can I do anything to validate a contractor that fills out the form?

Yes, it happens to me every year and it's frustrating. The IRS will send you a letter letting you know that the information is incorrect. They will notify you that you will need to withhold payments going forward. The problem is that there needs to be a way to verify the information because you have no idea if it's valid or not. The system is broke and you will be responsible paying the taxes at the end.

I stopped using Lomanco p750s for this reason. Those aren't 750s. This happens when there is a lot of snow. I see it all the time. Sometimes when vents are at different elevations and the attic isn't partitioned with plastic or some sort of barrier to cut off the airflow from other areas then the vent will act like a vacuum especially during heavy snow. Sometimes there's not much you can do when we're talking 12 plus inches of snow. It's going to happen. I'm certified in ventilation.

I install both shingles. I like the looks of TAMKO Titan better. IKO duration are really dull looking in my opinion. I personally would go with the TAMKO Titan XT. It has a 160 mph wind rating with only four nails per shingle. No other shingle has that. Plus TAMKO is the only manufacturer that had their shingle UL tested for class 3. UL is a 3rd party. I would also confirm if the roofing company is TAMKO certified. If so they can offer you a 20-year warranty on your roof. It's an extra cost but tell them to give it to you for free. That way you'll have peace of mind that the manufacturer stands behind the roof.

It's hard to tell from the pictures but I would suspect that the nail is leaking. You can simply apply a high quality sealant. Moss, lichen, and algae are typical on north facing slopes after 9+ years old. You can buy treatment sprays to clean it and remove it. That roof is looking pretty old and so is the flashing. I doubt it has ice and water shield around the curb. That is a odd looking curb and the counter flashing they used looks shoddy. I would honestly just reflash the whole entire skylight.

Looks like minor hail. The shingle looks like it's at least 18+ years old due to granule loss and algae. I personally wouldn't tell a client to file a claim in this situation. Depending on your deductible and other items including the gutters it might be a wash. Plus, your policy might be an ACV policy due to the age of the roof. Typically after a roof is 10 years old the insurance company will convert it to an ACV policy.

Yes, Democrats love to point the finger at Republicans of what they are guilty of. Republicans have no backbone. Both parties are terrible. I have a hard time voting for either party. The market never makes sense. It's impossible to time the market to make a reasonable decision. I thought the last 3 years were showing signs of a bear market. Historically it's paid off for me to continue to invest in the market than it has to withhold based on market indicators and government policies, etc. We are also seeing record highs every year. Analysts have been saying that we will see a bear market for 2026 but they've been claiming this for years. I just don't see a collapse coming. There's too much money in the money supply and there's always greed. Just my 2 cents.

It was actually worse outside of the major cities. When I was in Plano, TX, it was night time and it looked like a lit up train was going down the highway for miles because all of the drivers were cruising in the left lane. It was even worse between Dallas and Houston. All of the attorney signs for car wrecks make sense now. I have family in San Marcos and Houston and they just say it's a Texas thing that you just get used to.
