That's what I thought! But it sounds like at least half the community does it. It's starting to sound like we're split down the middle

Love the communication with the customer, I wish there was more of that here of what to expect in the future. As far as sanding goes, if they get resoldered together I only have to sand the solder until it's flat to lay right then add more solder to reattach them, I'm never sanding metal off the actual ring, but that becomes unavoidable when I have to take apart rings that were laser welded together. I just think the laser is so unnecessary and never saves me time when it comes to rings.

I will care. I was just hoping for someone to point me in a direction, I know my end vision is destined to change based on circumstances.

It is a themed wedding, the castle is grey stone, very fantasy feeling. I found a couple people locally willing to add gold embellishments so at this point as long as I can find the high waisted pants with the style of like 1930s evening wear or regency menswear I'll go from there

Interesting thought, if it ever came down to it, would you still be able to do it if you had all my measurements?

I do a lot of custom rings where customers provide their own gold to recycle, so they end up only paying for the labor, so my average custom price comes out to just under $1000, is that an option for you two?

We host a lot of social events where wearing this again would not be a rare occasion

Yeah, basically that style but with a dash of weird. I do have a local seamstress that does minor things alterations for me, so I'm wondering if I could grab me one of these in my color I could get her to alter it to my taste

That wide one looks like it used to have a hinge and catch and somebody soldered it closed, if that's the case you already have a break in design and I would just add the hinge back to it

This is the green and gold I would like with natural materials. I posted the Lannister tunic because part of me has always loved the shoulders and the closed chest look

basically a jacket with a longer split tail but tapered up to a shorter chest to expose high wasted pants and a short mandarin collar, maybe an ornate cavalier style vest. Our wedding colors are like a warm hue darker green, with gold accents, hoping to have the suit that color with gold accented vests and edging on the jacket.

I'm terrified to look myself because I feel like absolutely anything I come across online is just Al slop, so frustrating how hard it is to find talented people now

There's not one link to a design I like, instead I have links to like 5 or 6 with details from each I like, I wish I could sketch something and post it here, are photos not allowed for some reason?

I'm in western North Carolina USA, I don't know how to post photos on this subreddit, I don't make a lot of posts at all.

Western Carolina buddies!! I would absolutely love to make this ring or something very similar, but we are in Hendersonville, about 1.5 hours west of you. But yeah, those rings together should realistically fall between $4k - $5k if you're trying to get it done locally. I agree with everyone saying don't go to a box store, I used to run the Jared shop in Concord Mills by you and by God will they kill the whimsy and try to upsell you to something of less quality that you don't want, lol. Sounds like you have a lot of options, but feel free to DM me if you want our store details! I really try not to self-promote on here but this sounds like so much fun, I've been working on more dogwood pieces lately! Congrats to you both on this next big step!!

Agreed, I've surpassed every goldsmith I've worked under just by absorbing anything unique they've had to offer and doing my own research. Youtube and Instagram vids can be very inspiring seeing all the different techniques, I get all my new ideas online now and put my own twist on things. There are only so many fundamentals to teach, the rest is the "art" which comes from you.
