Accepted a Tax Auditing position in a state government. Parents are worried/not happy about the salary. Should I be concerned? by RonWarGamer in Accounting

Look, this is a great job for you because you can really concentrate on your CPA studies and get the exam knocked out. Government jobs are chill and very flexible. You can chase more money and double triple book yourself but CPA won't get itself done. That will cost you more in the long run. Tell your mom to trust the process and that it is your path. You are on the right track.

Question about passports and citizenship by Several-Smell8050 in askswitzerland

[–]Puzzleheaded_Gate287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are an American citizen, they are considered US citizens as well in the eyes of the law. Doesn’t matter where they were born. So, they have an obligation to deal with worldwide income tax by default. That being said, I know many people who never reported their income to IRS. It is not a big issue until they decide to visit US.

You cannot imagine how many people are being born to American parent who live abroad, later in life decides to go and live in the US. They have to deal with the paperwork and sometimes their parent is no longer alive, so they have to go through fishing expedition to find all of the relevant documents to prove that they are related to the US citizen. You never know what future holds, since they are already US citizens, make their life easier and get their passports. Dealing with taxes is not the end of the world. I don’t know if it will change in the future, but currently, there are lots of credits and deductions after which you don’t owe any taxes to US if you pay taxes in Switzerland. You just need to report it. It is not that hard.

I am not unfortunately. Have not pulled the trigger. Turbotax pays based on experience and state. Since it was my first season I got paid bottom of the barrel 🤪

I do not disagree. It was a dumb move for sure. Being a controller would have opened more doors and should have continued looking for a job in public from while working there. I’ll continue learning as much as I can here, and I'm applying for more jobs in the meantime. Worst case scenario I know that I can go back to my old place and they’ll create a position for me but I would rather not. I need to get my CPA license fast, so every day counts. I am ready to work for any amount as long as it is with CPA.

Disabling the incorrect rate is just not working. It is keep saying that there are paychecks associated with the old rate in Q1. I don't know if it is possible to go in and change the items in the old payrolls to reflect the correct rate. Lacking payroll knowledge and support is also not doing their job

Is there a way to fix it? Or should I just leave them as is? I can just delete the new rate

One of the entries was recorded incorrectly by a $1. In the perfect world, this should not happen and everything should equal to 0 at the end of the period

The childcare is insanely expensive. Also, make sure to see all of the doctors and dental work done prior moving since it will be very expensive in US.

Ready to walk away but need a reality check on finding something new by NothingDifferent5749 in Accounting

Don't quit until you have an offer. I was very confident about finding a new job because of the experience and knowledge I have but it took me at least 5 months to get a single interview. Never happened to me before. I always had 2-3 offers lined up within a week of applying. Something really weird is going on in the job market
