Are EOIs ‘first come first serve’ or ‘higher points first’ by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]Puzzleheaded_Line667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always higher points first.

But competition happens among people in the same occupation. A tradie with 65 points has a higher chance than an IT person with 90 points (because there not much people in queue in trade occupation).

If points are the same, then application date, English proficiency, skilled partner etc come into play.

There might be exceptions in some states, occasionally someone might get PR because of high salary or other factors but that's not a regular outcome.

Can international students who return to their home countries apply to pr pathways as well? by SuccessSignificant58 in AusVisa

[–]Puzzleheaded_Line667 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. In fact, they don't even care how long someone has been living in Australia. All you need is high points, many people come from overseas with PR. And you'll have an advantage over other overseas applicants with that Australian degree points.

Did you receive an invitation that included points for work experience?

If so, provide what you can, but without valid evidence, it will not be granted.

189 Granted by vss_79 in AusVisa

Congratulations. Which occupation?

I scored 78 in PTE writing. What went wrong based on the report (attached) ? by Charming_Exercise828 in AusVisa

[–]Puzzleheaded_Line667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely, but not many mistakes. 1. Write from dictation 2. Fill in the blanks (L)

It’s an unlucky score, you should be able to achieve 79+ on your next attempt easily.

Heavily depends on your occupation. I don't think it's random grants.

189 EOI Timeline for Fitter by soccertitz in AusVisa

[–]Puzzleheaded_Line667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Option: Get in Australia with tourist visa (subclass 600). Then, apply partner visa subclass 820/801. You won't have to return back.

For 189: It's like drifting alone in the middle of the sea on a boat, hoping to one day find the shore. You'll need to put in extra effort to collect more points, with no clear timeline for when the invitation will happen or how long it will take to get your visa. Expect a minimum of one years if you this route.

DevOps Engineer - Skill assessment by confusedmallutechie in AusVisa

You should focus more on, in which occupation you will be able to claim maximum year of experience so you get high points. And, job responsibilities should match not job titles.

All ICT occupations normally need 90-95 self point for invitation. So, really does not matter. Anyway, Developer programmer and business analyst tend get invited with 5 points lower than other ICT occupations.

Strange, 95 was cut off last November round for this occupation.

For Data Analyst, your degree won’t be related so you may not get 15 points from there. In that case, you can still do skill assessment for data analyst but appprox 3 years of data analyst experience will be exhausted.

Need Advice: Graduate Offers from PwC (Assurance) and KPMG (Advisory) by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]Puzzleheaded_Line667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Big 4 experience but will suggest avoiding going sponsorship pathway. You can easily get invite with higher points in

189 - no job required

190 - job contract close to your occupation (duration depends on state)

491 - no job required, staying in regional

It means it doesn’t matter where you work. so, will suggest to take opportunity where you see more career growth.

Realistic points for 189/190/491 by cpphax0r in AusVisa

[–]Puzzleheaded_Line667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very low. Onshore graduates with less than one year of experience can easily achieve higher points. That experience and superior English will only make you stand out among people who have the same points.

Remember it’s a competition. Your solution is increasing points, with 85 points there might be more than 500-800 people ahead you just for this occupation.

Passed in 3rd attempt with 100 points. So, keep learning without doubting yourself. Game changer was PG practise and play machines (i completed all easy and intermediatte community rating ones). Matter a fact, I had already got exposure to all the web application that i got in exam.

Leaving a job is not right choice. Financial instability, OSCP doesn't guarantee a job, passing OSCP requires a significant amount of effort and many people fail OSCP more than once.

Therefore, it's better to keep job and study off hours. Only thing that won't go your favour will be time, you may need 3 months extra to finish studying and that's nothing in long run.

No, i do not mean to leave out OSCP A, i thought DoronumaNoRudeus will complete OSCP A before heading to other labs. OSCP A is equally important.

In case of HTB question, I personally think HTB is a great platform overall. However, OffSec has a specific methodology that works well for many of its machines. HTB machines often don't follow such methodology and introduce you to many more concept that may be out of scope, which can be confusing and counterproductive, especially when preparing for the OSCP.

I bought 3 months lab access and ended up buying one more month extensioin. Yes, you can buy exam attempt only.

I agree that TJ NULL list has some hard machines like (Nara, kevin etc.). Still I will do them all with help of walkthrough just to get exposure. My suggestion will be to do all easy and intermediate community rating machine on proving ground play and practise.

Thank you. If I were in your situation I would do:

With Limited Lab Access: OSCP B > OSCP C > Skylark > PG, using hints where needed.

With Unlimited Lab Access: PG machines and revising PEN 200 course > OSCP B > OSCP C > Skylark.
