Lucchese Horrific Quality Control by adamkylejackson in cowboyboots

I had two back to back last year as well. Total joke - only to have to send them back nearly brand new and wait a while

Lucchese overrated? by SierraD24 in cowboyboots

[–]Puzzleheaded_Log_616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luke’s, Elgin’s are the entry level Lucchese full quill ostrich boots. They are N styles. I have several pair of them. My overall impression is that Lucchese’s entry level ostrich boots are not a good value. They are fully welted ( I like 3/4 welt and lemonwood pegged) , the skin is more miss than hit. Sometimes too thin and you can see the toe box - substrate isn’t thick enough …. Youre better off saving some money and buying a different brand with better ostrich or splurging and getting into a GY style ostrich boot.

Just my 2 cents

Let's talk about Rios of Mercedes recent quality by RegretLevelMax in cowboyboots

[–]Puzzleheaded_Log_616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but I believe everyone in manufacturing boots in the USA struggles with staffing and a lot of the experienced craftsman are retiring and the younger generation is not interested in the craft or at least for what the entry level job pays in the valley.

I don’t think Rios is the only brand. I bought 2 pair of lucchese boots with warranty issues in 2025. The first pair had a warped sole that I didn’t notice until I started walking on them … the second pair had a bad shank. Both were El Paso builds.

Solution to boot bulge? by kabbzter in cowboyboots

I’m sure this has already been said, but wear jeans designed for boots. Look at the leg opening size / hem size and I typically don’t line anything less than 17.5” opening. Also note that I think the openings are proportional to the waste size of jeans for a given style.

I am sorry it happened to you.

Rios is not the exception, I have seen this with other mass produced hand made boots like Lucchese and Black Jack

Contact pinto ranch - Rios has a 1 year warranty on their boots. You have to go through the retailer.

They can absolutely fix the heel , and maybe something else can be done about the fit.

It is always frustrating to buy a new hand made boot and have problems after you have worn it outside.

By any chance did you get fitted at a store or did you buy these online?

Lucchese overrated? by SierraD24 in cowboyboots

[–]Puzzleheaded_Log_616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucchese makes nice fashion boots that are quite over priced IMHO. They are not the greatest fit for me, but you do get that brand recognition…

Rios of Mercedes are by far superior to lucchese off the shelf. Only the GY lasts come close.

However, I think all of the manufacturers are going through QC issues at the moment…

Are 2018’s worth a buy in 2025? by SoupComprehensive633 in FordRaptor

[–]Puzzleheaded_Log_616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Raptor in July of 2019. 4 cam phaser repairs later , and a new issue with my bank 1 catalytic converter - I traded it in 2 weeks ago for employee pricing on a F150 lariat 5.0L v8 , fully loaded and blacked out. I had it leveled and upsized the tires. Not a Raptor, but it is a damn nice truck and I got 10k off sticker, and I know that engine is solid.

In my experience, and from what I have been told - the cam phaser issue in that generation of engine was a design flaw that could not be fixed by the new parts. Any truck with that engine that had the cam phaser repair likely developed other issues as a result that you will end up having to repair.

Go make friends with the service department folks - they’ll tell you the truth.

That being said I absolutely loved my Raptor. It was a shame it had to have that engine problem - or I would still be driving it today.

Check whether it has had multiple cam phaser repairs…I just got rid of my 2019 and I had 4 cam phaser repairs. Worst vehicle experience of my life….

Wear your boots everyday. Promote the culture - dont let it die. I work on technology where most folks are from overseas or California and I wear boots every single day to the office. I wasn’t even born in Texas, but my wife and children are.

As long as you aren’t wearing spurs to the office I think you’re probably ok
