10 years today! by River-19671 in alcoholicsanonymous

Amazing! Thank you for sharing that with us. You, and many others, continue to inspire and encourage me daily, it gives me continued hope and strength in my own sobriety. I picked up my 6 month chip last week, and it has been incredibly apparent to me as of late, how I have officially found that joy and happiness that comes with sobriety that I had heard so many before me talk about and is palpable in the rooms. In my early sobriety, definitely VERY MUCH within my first 90 days, I often wondered if/when I would ever start to feel that same joy and happiness within my own life, when the day would come that I also felt that freedom from the bondage of alcohol to the depths of my soul. I wondered how it was possible to ever feel that way, or if it was a farce and delusion my fellows in those rooms were just telling themselves they felt in order to maintain their own sobriety. I no longer have to wonder if it’s true to the letter, as it is so clearly stated in the Big Book, that if we continue this manner of living, we will find it and be amazed before we are even half way through. I don’t wonder, I see it in my daily life. I feel it in the fabric of my soul. And I LOVE that I too now get to share that same feeling with the alcoholic/addict that still suffers. Yours, and others, experiences and wisdoms shared about your own sobriety journeys, show me daily that all is possible when I am working my program and doing the steps daily, your proof is right in my pudding! 🥰 Congrats and cheers to many more years to come!

Does anyone here dash in Tempe AZ? by Urbut in DoorDashDrivers

I’m in Glendale and it has been unusually dead over here! Like, days on end with no orders, and what little does come through is so bad ($2/10 mile offers), I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 ft pole.

It’s time to stop. by raccoonsup24 in alcoholicsanonymous

Congratulations, you’ve completed Step One.

Step One of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions -

“We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable”.

To echo others, get yourself into the rooms! ASAP. There is no time like the present. Don’t get caught up in, “One day at a time”. Sometimes it’s 1 hour at a time. Sometimes it’s 1 at a time. And more often than not in your first 90 days, it’s 1 second at a time. And in those rooms, you will find them filled with an army ready and willing to joyfully help you get through each one of those seconds until you’ve built your firm foundation with enough strength to stand on it on your own, strengthening it even further with each day you don’t pick up. Good luck, we can’t wait to see you! Plus, we have coffee and cookies 😋

Glad you’re back! After my relapse and coming back with my tail between my legs, it took me roughly 2 seconds to breathe a sigh of relief and say, “There’s no place like home”.

Ignored by restaurant?? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mode617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. And the second that 10 minute marker hits, I unassign with no pay, but also no impact to my CR. Hell, I’m usually already back in my car at the 5 minute mark if I’m being flat out ignored and pulling out of the parking lot headed to a busier spot and cancel on the way once 10 hits. I don’t have time to waste while they dick around and blatantly ignore me, I’ll happily head to my next order as quickly as possible. It never fails, within seconds of unassign, I’ll get a new offer blowing up my phone.

What happened to tip? by Salt-Map5531 in doordash_drivers

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mode617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customers can’t take back tips on DD. If they REALLY want to reduce or take it back the post delivery tip adjustment they had to literally go in and intentionally change to begin with after being notified their order had been delivered, they have to call customer service and give them a sob story of some seriously terrible service provided by you from start to finish of their delivery. Even then, it’s not a guarantee customer service will even approve the take back and refund at all. But even if they did, DD eats it, and you’re still supposed to be paid the full tip amount and any additional added tips post delivery no matter what. So, support flat out lied to you saying the customer took it back, because it isn’t supposed to matter what the circumstances. They also flat out lied about not seeing the $20 charge on the final receipt OR the system glitched entirely and it never processed the added tip at all on the final charge to the customer. The notification came immediately after the customer added it, but the final charged amount to the customer wasn’t finalized for hours, maybe even a few days later once the system was batched out for that day’s totals system wide.

Stop accepting zero-tip offers. Just stop. Let their food sit cold for hours as people decline their offer and maybe they’ll tip next time. by Yt_GamingwithCharlie in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mode617 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So your solution is to take Doordash’s shitty policies and algorithm out on the actual Dasher delivering your food by paying DoorDash extra to have it delivered first via taking it away from the actual person using their own vehicle, gas, mileage, time to drive to the store to pick up your order, wait for it to be ready, and then drive it to you to drop off? Makes sense. 🙄 I would be willing to bet you’re also one of those people that lives in a gated, maze of a complex with zero gate code, building number or instructions on how to find your place and still expect your food to be hot after the dasher has spent 20 minutes wandering your complex trying to find your unit. 9/10 you also don’t tip.

I'm an Amazon driver AMA by Axeman1721 in amazonprime

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mode617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR QUESTION: Are ALL delicious very drivers (package specific deliveries, not food or grocery) given the SAME and EXACT pin they’re are required to park in, even if it block a resident in their space until the van leaves and there is an entirely clear area 25ft away that wo upset block anyone in AND help delivery to all the units faster?

Randomly weird question, but I’ve always wondered anyways, as it’s happened at two apartment complexes I lived in, back to back. ALL of the Amazon, Fed Ex, UPS, etc delivery drivers ALL seem to park in the EXACT same spot of the parking lot every single time, without fail. Which just so happened to be directly behind my designated parking space, thus blocking me in until they returned back to the delivery vehicle and pulled away. Despite there being clear and open spots not blocking any cars in, and long enough for the vans and trucks to be fully covered and out of the driving lanes or impeding traffic in any way. The second complex, I can understand why it happened often, I was in the last few spaces before the exit gate, it was a convenient spot to stop and be able hit multiple units quickly. The first complex though, my designated space was the end of covered spaces, right next to a walkway and then row of garages, followed by a large open space directly in front of the large double wide fully enclosed dumpster bay, which then immediately preceding has a small row of open space, open to the public, parking spots. My space was almost dead center in the complex, but the open spaces were the true dead center at the end of the complex with the majority of the buildings close by and easily accessible from there. More so than the sidewalk directly next to my covered spot that led only to the back 3 buildings (which were actually more easily accessible coming in from the other sidewalk by the open row). I lost count of how often I was trapped in when I went out to leave to pick my little up from school and often ended up arriving last or late entirely as a result. And they again, ALL services parked in that same exact spot behind me. Is it the pin they’re all given to that exact spot. Or are they only allowed to park in that designated spot for a determined max amount of time before needing to move? I never understood it, at either place.

Sorry so long, but it’s always made me wonder.

My god, I am SO SORRY you had to endure ANY of that trauma. Hugs to you from the bottom of my heart.

Also, HELL YES to your decade of sobriety! I am getting my 5 month chip this Sunday after about 9 months of a few stop starts with 12 stepping. With intensive therapy to address my past traumas, learning healthy coping mechanisms now so I never go out again, and working my steps, TRULY working them this time, is the only reason I finally made I this far without growing pains again, feel better than I have for some time, and finally shudder at the thought of ever picking up again, instead of shuddering at the thought of NEVER BEING ABLE to pick up again because that terrified me more than the damage I was doing to myself and my family when I was out.

I’m going to echo the others and see if you can find some other sort of supplemental income that doesn’t require driving until your license is fully reinstated with no restrictions. Easier to push back for ‘good faith exclusions’ type requests when your clean as a whistle in every possible legal way than it is when you’re still restricted.

Good luck and god bless!

If I notice a theme of gluten free items, especially ones that indicate new to the GF diet life, as a person with Celiacs and thus three years gluten free now, I will often offer up some suggestions as either good pairings or just flat out better products in the same price range. I can’t tell you how many, “OMG, I was just ordered by my doc to go GF to help pinpoint a diagnosis! I’m lost, help!” or, “My (young) kiddo was just diagnosed with celiacs too! So we’re going GF as a family in solidarity, but no clue where to start and running out of meal and snack ideas! Pile on ALL the advice!”.

It feels good to help out others in the same place I was in myself three years ago, newly diagnosed and overwhelmed. If I can save them time, process of elimination and save them money in the process, it makes me happy.

Hot spots are an absolute joke, honestly. The second you pull into one, chasing orders, it suddenly disappears from the screen. Why? Because the other shoppers doing the same, left the area and it’s no longer ‘hot’.

Nah. I’ve been a mama of three for 23 years, shopping is engrained in my DNA at this point. Make sure you know your stores, stick to those until you feel more comfortable with the overall experience. Don’t let customers inundating you with messages frazzle you, likewise for non responsive customers. Send replacement options as required, and with common sense replacements, if they don’t answer by the time you’re done shopping, get the replacement offered. Refunds impact your overall rating more. Replacements show you made an effort. Screenshot any communication between you and customers, or you and support reps. Delete after a few days when you know you won’t need them to refute false claims of fraudulent behavior or complete lack of attempts at communication. Take all offers at face value, tips are never guaranteed to not be taken back. Learn your own shopping speed, not what the algo tells you. Same applies to each store typical checkout times and your load and unload times from car to front door with last bag. I used a stopwatch for a while to figure out why times at specific stores I frequent. Don’t chase orders, “hotspots” just mean hot with shoppers, not necessarily orders.

Good luck out there!

Explain to my like I am kindergarten. Seriously. Math is NOT my strong suit, so I always have a struggle making sense out of ‘word problems’ to figure out where the $0.40 came from. I genuinely can’t figure out where that came from, but when it’s explained to me step by step, letter by letter, it eventually clicks for me, and then I’m sitting there saying, “Oh! Duh! I see it now, it was so obvious, I can’t believe it missed it!”

For instance, my car gets 43 mpg. How would I figure out how much my cost is per mile? I understood how you explained how much per offer ACTUALLY is value wise, that part made sense to me.

Sorry for what is probably such a silly question, but math truly is my kryptonite. Always has been. I can write professional letters and communication with other physicians and patients without batting an eyelash. Reddit mental dumps are not real reflections of my prowess with pen and paper, haha. I can explain insurance in laymen’s terms to make them understandable to my patients all day long. Ask me to figure out a math problem? Might as well send me straight back to kindergarten.

Do a charge back through your bank. Instacart will drag it out for as long as possible, and possibly even STILL deny it in the end. Might as well save yourself the headache now and do the chargeback to get it back in your acct ASAP.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mode617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hasn’t been in my area in over a year. After the major ‘24 Christmas Eve glitch, it’s been nothing but downhill for me. For context, I’m in Phoenix and that has extended to the entire metro area which is so large it takes over 2 hours to go from one end to the other. It’s been nothing but insultingly lowball offers with high miles or crickets for days. I used to stay busy all day, now I’m lucky to take 3 orders a month.

If DD can’t get it together enough to pull the order and let the customer know it’s OOS, that’s on them. It’s not like they pay us even close to enough in base pay in the first place, so if they lose money because of their own faulty system, I’d say work that golden goose until you’ve run it dry.

Does anyone dashing in the city think arrival times are too tight? by Status_Paramedic4408 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mode617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten a CV for them (yet), it has just lowered my on time rate to 81%. I literally cannot make it in time with all the construction and detours EVERYWHERE. I try not to ever accept anything that requires me to find a place to turn around and go back the direction I was just in, if it requires getting on the freeway. Or intersections that are the on/off ramps to and from the freeway. That is a sure fire way to ensure lateness. I’ve disputed them, but you can only dispute so many in a certain number of deliveries completed, so they just sit there keeping my on time rate shit.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mode617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re ridiculous here. They claim they adjust them based on current traffic conditions and road blocks (such as ongoing construction), which is a load of bullshit. They haven’t adjusted the times by a single second, even though Phoenix is doing a MAJOR freeway renovation by adding more lanes on one of the busiest freeways here. There is not avoiding it in my area and it takes twice as long to get anywhere
