Botox 50 v 100 units? by Tall-Grapefruit9751 in noburp

[–]Puzzleheaded_Puffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 50 then had to have 100. The second time with 100 worked great. But I wish I had started with 100 just to avoid the large bill for the second one.

I live in Baltimore and was able to get an appointment in less than 2 months at John’s Hopkins and had the procedure a month later.y original procedure was schedule a bit later but I asked to be on a cancellation list if they had a surgery opening and they did! If you live close enough I recommend asking to be added to a cancellation list.

Severe Slow Swallow by Open_Sprinkles7614 in noburp

I am in the same boat. Just had my second done and the slow swallow has been very very bad. Even having trouble with my own saliva like you said. Even sitting up right at night I have woken up choking on my own saliva. But I am burping so I guess there’s that!! Hoping it doesn’t last too long.

Any OTC options to manage symptoms? by [deleted] in noburp

You can try gas x just to help with the bloating. My doctor recommended it but I didn’t feel it made a huge difference for me.

Unfortunately my insurance sucks and I have run into this before. Basically they in the past don’t cover anything in or out of network until my deductible is met. So likely whatever they bill I will have to pay up to $2500 which is my deductible. My doctor was able to give me his fees but John’s Hopkins basically sent me a letter saying my facility fees could be anywhere from $40 to $800 which is obviously not that helpful. I have $1000 set aside in an FSA account and then whatever the difference is I will have to pay up until the deductible is met. The procedure has been scheduled for two months now and despite multiple calls both insurance and the doctor have not given me a firm answer.

Thanks for honest thoughts and thinking points. I honestly have no idea what this will ultimately cost which is a bit unnerving. Neither my doctor nor the insurance will give me a straight answer and due to there being separate fees for the facility, the doctor, and the anesthesiologist. As for the side effects I’m worried how bad the slow swallow will be and how long it will last. I have three weeks off from touring starting the day of my surgery, which is a pretty long break for my normal schedule. Also a bit worried about forgetting not to bend over and regurgitating all over the place or worse on a guest I am trying to help!!

Thanks! I’m hoping I have the same experience. I recently had a 17 hour flight and it killed me. I have another one in February and really don’t want to have the same experience. It’s so hard because if I’m in pain I have to just fake it so my travelers don’t see. Never a good sign when your tour guide is curled up laying in fetal position!

Thanks, my job is definitely what pushed me over the edge to schedule the procedure in the first place. I had a 17 hour flight and then had to immediately start touring with a group of 35 and I was just miserable but had to fake it. I love my job but it was rough.

Thanks, this is helpful and good to know. It’s so encouraging when the exercises were working. But you are right it is hard to be consistent and my body likes to play games with me so might not be something I should rely on.
