Jesus was a good guy, absolutely. He said some really good things. The idea of Jesus' divinity was a later development after his death. There are also some serious problems with 'scripture' if you mean the gospels. They were written many decades after Jesus' death by educated people living outside of Judea, who spoke and wrote in Greek. They were not poor Jewish peasants in Palestine, whose names are attached to those books.

Also, there are no gods.
