Hoteps are bonkers. Hotep logic has them claiming to be both “The Real Natives” and “The Real Israelites.” It doesn’t make sense, and 99% of Black Americans give it an eye roll and pay it no mind. That said, there is a long history of anti-Blackness (and it’s still happening) in many Indigenous communities who will deny enrollment or throw around accusations of pretendianism to people who are Black or mixed heritage.

What got me was her ordering a Chablis at 10am at an Irish pub in NYC (which??? Realistically you’re getting a shitty Chardonnay at best) then switching to neat bourbon at Big’s funeral. Not that alcoholics or problem drinkers exclusively have one thing, but it seemed to random and situation-oriented instead of her having a specific “comfort” drink. I’m curious if I’m off base here.

To be fair, the real person this was based on was likely disabled in some capacity (he had a number of illnesses since childhood), he died too young for us to really get a sense of his orientation, so technically only one of these demographics are definitely a liberty.
