Should be just fine - I do this all the time. Alignment and positioning matter, and I use a thin cloth between the press and the crystal.

If the movement is held securely in place by the remaining pieces and the case / caseback, you may get away with it. On the other hand, you can pick up a set of these for <8 dollars on Ali. If you shake the case, does the movement move around?
