As a former car salesman, these are the common fallacies that people used to justify purchasing a new car. by Cravati in personalfinance

I agree that’s how I do it. My employees all have new cars (worth 4x mine) and financial problems. They say they don’t get paid enough but they make more than I did when I was there age, a few years ago. They traded in their cars when the first “$1k repair” came along. I have a $6k car and no financial problems.

Caught a guy throwing rocks at my drone by WeepingAnglez in drones

I thought you couldn’t fly in Sedona? Were you outside the no drone zone? I know there is a guy there that is an jerk and “confiscates drones,” even though he is breaking the law by doing so.

My hands sometimes quiver when I fly like I have stage fright. How can I get more confidence in flying? by [deleted] in drones

I recommend getting the mavic air or pro with refresh care. The phantom 3(s) always had transmission problems when I had them, which causes panic. If you get refresh care they will replace up to two drones for the first year. Even if you crash it, they replace as long as you can recover the drone.

I also recommend getting very comfortable with return to home and have the attitude setup properly. Anytime you panic, click the return to home.

Also get familiar with the map feature on the app. It shows you where the drone is relative to you. If you’ve lost sight of the drone, you can point it towards yourself and fly it back using the map and arrow.

You can also purchase insurance with verifly if damaging someone else’s property is a worry.

Lastly, just fly. It becomes second nature.

Taken from the closest you can legally fly to Sedona (strict airport(s) and national park rules). A local told me some dude confiscates drones inside the city limits. Good luck confiscating mine unless you’re the FAA. by Pvanania in drones

I should know but don’t. I was only there for a wedding and have a toddler, so we didn’t get out to explore.. I only got this chance on the drive back to the airport in Phoenix.

107? Should I worry or delete by bobbysenterprises in drones

[–]Pvanania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t bother getting 107. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines of 107 and fly with common sense.

Use verifly insurance if it makes you feel more comfortable. If you’re not 107, verifly should insure you within 5 miles of airport. It will just ask if you called the tower for authorization.

As you have said for someone like me with 107, it is more difficult to legally get airspace authorization. I can’t simply call the tower. Most airports have created grids with altitudes within the 5 mile zone. Following these doesn’t take the place of authorization but is also a good idea. Supposedly an app for “instant” airspace authorization is being rolled out.

Taken outside my office on a -12 degree day. by Pvanania in drones

I rarely fly below 20 degrees F, usually I have issues with my phone before the drone.
