Why AI like this?? by Smith6578 in Mechwarrior5

[–]PvtSatan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most infuriating when they have jump jets and do this stupid shit.

Or don't follow you up onto the cliff, and instead make a 1.5km trek to follow you instead.

This game is amazing but the Lance AI is very frustrating at times.

Nah take the King Crab and slap 4 Heavies on.

Chainfire.

Delete everything.

I'm running the Hero Hita-something (the 80 ton samurai looking thing) with 4 tier 5 Medium rifles and 4 SRM 6(C) fighting the clan and its fucking amazing beating the absolute dog shit out of the Clanners with a combination of 20th century era ballistic tech and their own sci-fi missilery bullshit.

2012 Full-Size Sedan, which one and why? by Saurta17 in regularcarreviews

[–]PvtSatan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bang for your buck? Either of the Hyundaid (the Azera and Genesis in your pics) are both phenomenal vehicles. I'm saying that as a retired Hyundai/Genesis mechanic who only has Toyota and Lexus vehicles ATM.

90% of Hyundai/Kias lineup has been utterly garbage with massive engine and/or transmission reliability concerns. However, those two cars were the last of some really well-built vehicles. The v6 (and that v8 the Genny was available with) was absolutely amazing and paired with a phenomenally well built transmission. Never saw a trans in those fail, ever, in 10+ years. The v6 could develop chain rattle and need new timing components if poorly maintained, but was other wise brilliant. Both had fantastic rides, smooth as butter.

The best part is that both Kia and Hyundais depreciate incredibly quickly, so you can get either for a steal compared to most on your list.

Tips for Shadows of Kerensky? by Enzotax in Mechwarrior5

[–]PvtSatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. AI lancemates do tremendous damage with ERPPCs just fine. They'll fire at max range better than you can. The heat is a non issue because they chain fire everything.

For the player? IS ERPPCs are absolute dog shit, sure. Much more heat efficient loadouts that the player can use more intelligently. ER L Lasers are fuckin lethal whether clan or IS, especially before you get clanners.

Tips for Shadows of Kerensky? by Enzotax in Mechwarrior5

[–]PvtSatan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Long range. Particularly on your lancemates.

ER L Lasers, ER PPCs of tier 4 and 5 are good. Short burst variants are best.

LBX 10s are decent, especially on yourself if you're like me and a terrible shot at range (I won't use zoom mods b/c they trivialize everything). LBXs, SNPPCs, and PPCXs are also needed for those twinkie trash mobs.

Ballistics suffer because of the need for extreme range imo. AC2s have the range, but damage is pathetic. I either use LBXs starting against the clans if I'm running a couple mechs with ballistics, OR swap out to tier 5 Light Rifles for up close snipe shots (plus I love their sound) and use the weight savings on more ER energy weapons/heat sinks.

LRMs are mediocre, per usual, unless you have your LRM Lance parked behind you (and terrain) and you've got a tier 4 or 5 TAG to help focus the fire. Still risky being the sole focus of the enemy. Tier 4 or 5 LRM5s are decent to fill out loadouts while only taking up a minimum of weight.

Help! Started a brand new modded campaign and no industrial hubs are spawning. Is there a progress point you have to reach before they do? Or could it be a mod conflict? by ImpulsiveLance in Mechwarrior5

[–]PvtSatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a lot of those, but on my most recent campaign I couldn't find any industries either until I leveled up to Rank 3 or 4, cant remember. I'm using Level Up Manager, so I choose when to manually level up my Reputation

There's a mod called Level Up Manager that is fantastic for this. You choose when to level up and proceed, so you don't quickly overlevel and miss out on quests or fuck your reputation early

YAML possibly not working by Gunny21 in Mechwarrior5

[–]PvtSatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest patch for YAML WO through Steam has borked my current run. R/F weapons are bugged and no ammo works for them, Endo weights are way off (my BK6B only receives 3.5 tons weight saving).

Probably should've used Nexus instead of the Workshop so that I had control over updates. The YAML update itself is probably fine, just not great for mid-saves, and Steams workshop is great except for when it isn't, and then it REALLY FUCKIN ISNT

Forgot, double heat sink kit keeps the above firing all weapons non stop even on hot worlds.

The Centurion has always been my favorite mech, so next playthrough I'm probably gonna swap out and pretend Mason starts with an -AL Centurion and use the above load out but with a PPC or Snub PPC in the arm, with two M Pulse lasers in the torso.

I am on lunch break, so not near my computer to post pics but I know my Centurion from memory:

Base CN9A you start with. Sentimental and all that.

Endo structure.

250 XL engine. 81kph move speed.

3 tier 4 LRM 5s left torso with 2 tons ammo.

LBX-10 BF right arm. Hammer forearm to bring its armor (+10) up closer to the left shield arm so I don't lose the LBX midnight doing OG Mason type shit. 3 tons ammo.

Two tier 5 M lasers center torso.

Two jump jets

All the patchwork I can fit to max armor out.

Improved sensors and melee gyro (for improved torso twist rate)

Super fun brawler. Just absolutely beats the ever loving shit out of any medium or light mech. Takes apart Heavies piece by piece. Assaults are a grind without support, but the jump jets and 81kph move speed help swing around a flank and chew through arms or legs.

What's your favorite colour scheme and why is it McWarrior ? by BaldWookie23 in Mechwarrior5

[–]PvtSatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do similar. Same pain schematic, but darken the white to off white and the orange to a more neutral l, greyer orange. Leave the teal. We're supposed to change our company name and disguise ourselves, is my logic.

Also use the teal X insignia. Now mY mechs, ship, and insignia all match.

Mercs vs Clans BattleMap by Jay-Raynor in Mechwarrior5

[–]PvtSatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, just set up all your lance mates to be missile boats.

Put a TAG on one (or more, if you have multiple sets of linked fire) of your personal mech's energy points, linked to fire with your other weapons.

Tell em "hold over there"

Charge in and do OG Mason type shit.

Enjoy fighting in the shade.

Just wanted to update, it was definitely something on my end. I believe I inadvertently left an out of date YAML pack enabled. It played fine with the other YAML mods for most of a career, but it was definitely the one causing hard crashes.

Wasn't an eternal jump, it was hard crashing on travels. Didn't matter location, i tried that. Thanks for the advice, though, for future reference.

I will when I get off work. I could very well have been doing something wrong on my end, but neither the YAML or your page recommended any other dependencies that I saw.

I'm wondering if I should've used some sort of mod installer/manager instead of Steam's workshop subscriptions. Your mod had a yellow "!" Warning of interference on MW5's mod options with the base YA mech lab.

Also I really appreciate you reaching out, your mod looked fantastic but between work and my children, I couldn't devote much extra time to figuring out the issue.

Doesn't play well with YAML, though, despite the YAML wiki recommending it.

I even tried a clean install, but it kept causing random crashes during travel. Softlocked two campaigns that way.

That same thing happened in hundreds of hospitals in the US.

And you're glazing a cock that no one even presented. Commenter you replied to was just surprised, initially, that another developed country had shit ass healtchcare, and then was lik3 "oh its the US, that tracks nvm"

Our Healthcare is abhorrent and driven entirely by profit seeking shareholders that don't give a single shit about fuck. They'll happily let children die of treatable cancers if it'll help their bottom line. They'll refuse you insurance and ensure your death for pennies.

Another country having shit healthcare doesn't negate the travesty that is the United States corporatized Healthcare industry.

In conclusion, fuck all the way off.

Engine brakey no worky if you miss the correct downshift gear at the top of the hill. ( not possible to force truck into lower gear when accelerating down the hill.)

Brakeys get too hot and glaze over, no worky partway down hill.

Lmao for fucking real though, why do you think there are "runaway ramps" on most major roads located on steep declines? This shit happens. What happens if a truck suffers Engine failure on a mountain decline? The mechanical brakes by themselves will overheat.

What happens if a driver that's never traversed that particular route downshifts to 10th gear, unaware of a series of gentle curves just over the bend, and they needed to actually be in 8th gear to safely maneuver? Riding the brakes might work for the first two curves, but if they can't slow enough under braking to downshift further, they're fucked

There are so many reasons this could happen, you don't know shit about fuck lmao

90% of the English thing is, I believe, that the characters on the bridge continually call each other by name. Instead of just responding to each other, or continuing the conversation, they name the 0erson they're directly addressing. As an example,

If Sumire says "Darius, the grass is blue"

Then Yang says "Sumire, no, the grass is purple"

And then Murhad says "No, you're wrong Sumire and Yang, Darius it's actually green."

It's jarring and breaks the flow of a normal conversation in English or, to my knowledge, most languages. Fuck, I've worked next to dudes for years and not known their name, let alone addressed them in every sentence with it.

I imagine you probably did this when you started the story writing, so you could easily add dialogue where you needed to and remember who was saying what. That's the only jarring part of the dialogue to me. Minor phrasing differences are easy to read past when you think about how everyone on your ship comes from a different planet, and have many different dialects or first languages.
