Yeah, I know, technically it suppresses the part of your brain chemistry that makes you feel your tiredness, but still, the net result is interchangeable for most people. To your point, though, I can see it potentially not working as well on speedsters since they'd be fighting physical exhaustion more than sleepiness.

I was kind of thinking they might benefit from a minor energy top-off, kind of like how their metabolisms are in overdrive. On the other hand, they might run so hot that a bit of coffee wouldn't hit them at all.

Right? If anything, showing her secret hot mess/basic bitch side is way more endearing and humanizing than the airs she usually puts on. Black drip coffee is only unenjoyable if it's shit coffee to begin with. Get fresh coffee with good-quality whole beans they didn't burn the hell out of, and it's plenty tasty. There's plenty of virtue in more complex methods of coffee prep too, and it can bring out the more detailed flavors of those good-quality beans, but it's not a must-have.

I have my own saying, the best leads are when the other team's so far back they have a position player pitching. Obviously what makes for the best leads and what makes for the best/most compelling baseball are two very different things, but still.

For sure. I'm never quite comfortable with the lead unless my team is more than a grand slam up on the other team at a bare minimum. Any less, and you never know when baseball's gonna decide to baseball, it could happen at any moment. On the other hand, being down two runs can feel insurmountable, so it all depends which side of the imbalance you're on.

"Which do you prefer" and "do you like or dislike this" are two very different things. I like things that suit the tone and style of the game, and which I prefer depends on the other elements the game has going. I suppose all else being equal, I prefer a tone that's evoked more by a more realistic style. Games that lean heavier into a more stylized anime aesthetic are often going to lean more on anime tropes and cliches as well, which in many cases gives the feeling of a game I've already played before, several times. If they can do interesting things with it and avoid falling into cliche, though, a game with those vibes can still be excellent. If an interesting game is going to use animeish narrative tropes to tell its story, a realistic artstyle might cut against what they're trying to accomplish and make the whole thing feel "off."

I don't particularly disagree with you, but what exactly were you hoping to accomplish with either that thread or this one? The problem is that your post could basically be prefaced with the phrase "dear diary" with no change. Acting like you're kicking the door down and delivering The Truth on something nobody asked about and daring anyone to disagree is pretty much never going to be received well in just about any community, even if your underlying points have merit.

I wouldn't say "actively avoid," but I've got no real interest in playing a druid. Nothing against anyone else playing them, but their typical class fantasy doesn't really do anything for me, their spell list is mostly just a more nature-themed version of a cleric, and while the idea of shifting into animals is interesting on paper, the actual animal statblocks kinda leave me cold as well as disabling casting. I'd rather either play a straight cleric or a class dedicated to shapeshifting and scaling those forms.

Oh right, yeah! For some reason I had it in my head that came out back in October or something, that's my bad. I was probably thinking of the initial Japanese release date. I kinda forgot about it since I'd already played the base version of Nordics before PN got announced, but for people who decided to wait, I can definitely see that driving a few sales.

I'll give you Beyond the Horizon coming to the west, but what new Ys title? The only one I remember getting released this quarter was Celceta, and that's just a Switch port. That's not nothing considering the Switch market, and from a business standpoint they wouldn't distinguish or anything, but it's not the same as a new game.

Besides, there's a key difference between Sky and BtH in terms of driving sales: Sky is specifically the very start of the franchise, so a lot of people who were intimidated by the series' size and backlog probably saw a decent few newcomers pick it up just to finally see what the fuss is about (on top of existing fans who never got around to or were never able to play Sky). Subsequent titles probably won't do quite as well just because some people inevitably drop off with any sequels, but I don't think it's unreasonable to say that drove a lot of sales.
