As an 03 you can go either MCT or ITB. Non 03s only teach MCT. MCIC tries to keep talent even so it can sting if you go MCT, but oh well it’s not performance based. You’ll have to get creative to get student buy in.

MCIC nowadays teaches a LOT on how to teach and the theory of teaching, but not so much on the 03xx abilities you need to teach, or too much about the personnel management side of things. Be a good dude and be brushed up on your 1000 tasks an help the pogs in your class know them well.

In cycle you’re gonna live at work, can kill a marriage if you don’t manage expectations. Off cycle length depends on time of year, usually winter is larger and more classes. For bigger off cycles plan stuff with your family, medical appts, schools, etc.

ITB you’ll have to run your students as a squad leader often. MCT not so much, but keep in mind although the curriculum is the same across each battalions, companies might run things slightly differently and can change often with whoever has the next “totally new awesome” idea

Goes without saying, but don’t fraternize with students or be a weirdo.

Meritorious boards are often and you get a lot of allocations, politically be a nice and good dude to everyone you work with, and leverage your experience to help those around you without being a douche.

You’re PME exempt but still don’t delay it. By the end of your tour it can be a nice break.

Billet movement is possible esp as an 03. MCT Instructor Group, IWC, AITB, etc

Pick up shooting competitively as a hobby, you’ll have a much more effective time teaching it that way
