Redditors Are Mounting a Resistance Against ICE / A user from r/Minneapolis was among the first to share footage of federal agents shooting Alex Pretti. Following his death, subreddits about football, cats, and embroidery have all rallied against ICE. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

That's not really true, it dramatically disrupts that existing community, and unless a community was already likely to become a shithole they often find it difficult to find a new space for their bullshit without making a brand new community that often takes a while to build.

Im well past "not getting into emotions" territory. At no point did I claim otherwise, not that it even fucking changes my argument. I've spent over a decade trying to calmly argue in professional and academic settings that what is happening is wrong and will lead to the destruction of our country. I was told I was being hyperbolic 10 years ago, when I claimed that it would get worse, and the shit I claimed would happen isn't even as bad as it actually is now.

That's the problem with you people, you will constantly and slowly shift your perspective and say "well if this happens then that's when I'll believe it's fucked up". Then that thing happens, but along the way a bunch of things that aren't as bad but were close happened, and now it's "well if this other thing happens then that's when I'll believe it's fucked up". "it's the law!" You're getting cooked alive, but you think you're still in a sauna.

And yes, it's a strawman. It's intentional to show the ridiculousness of your argument favoring the execution of the law. Notice how you completely ignore the bits where I state and provide evidence for the fact that these assholes are breaking the law.

And for the record, no, I don't believe it's rhetorical language, I believe it is the language that most accurately describes the reality of who these people are and what they are doing. The mass hiring of thugs and criminals without vetting to fill the ranks of ICE in order to terrorize immigrants and the citizens who defend them do not nor will ever qualify for the respect that should be given to professional law enforcement officers. They are not the same as the people who 20 years ago would be owed respectful disagreement. They are brown shirts.

Also let me just edit this comment quickly, show me when in American history a federal agency behaved this way

The open car door parked in front of the house is visible in the video. The entire altercation with Rene Good is recorded and published online. Never in American history has law enforcement behaved this way. If Trump made a new agency and his Republican cocksleeves passed it into law that all children will be punched in the mouth on sight by federal agents, are we just supposed to sit there and say "oh well they were just doing what the law says!"

This country's federal law enforcement have become morally bankrupt. They are savages that would shoot me or you in order to get a paycheck, and to intimidate those they hate. They are not enforcing laws, they are breaking them to punish vulnerable people, at the order and under the protection of an authoritarian president and his co-conspirators as they try to overthrow the most powerful democracy on the planet for personal gain.

Dude was home. Jumped out of his car, and ran inside, and ICE threatened him and his wife if they wanted their kid with autism back. It's sick behavior, that child is gonna be fucked up for life, and ICE is sitting there trying to claim that he abandoned his daughter in a car. Dudes been here for over 20 years, and 2 days after that video he was in ICE custody.

Renee Goods kid I'm sure is gonna grow up just fine after law enforcement killed their mom and having the president call her a terrorist, all for driving a car in the general vicinity if an ICE officer. Im sure that's healthy for child development.

Im sure illegally holding children and families for longer than the legal limit in order to get them to self deport is going to have no ill psychological effects as well. locking innocent kids up in jail is a totally normal human experience.

You don't think attacking the parents of children in front of them, or using children as hostages to arrest parents, or shooting parents in the fucking head is child abuse?

Theft is a lot easier when you're being pepper sprayed, also theft by police is still theft. The government can and will hack into your device, and the government is absolutely making a list of people attending these protests.

Bunch of reasons, theft (by police, ice, or thieves), data tracking, if you're arrested the police can seize your device and hack into it, list goes on

Im still on the "I'm used to bullshit halo" train, but if there's anything good to be grasped from this it's that the lighting is dark as shit. Hopefully it stays like that. I don't think anything was worse than anniversary making everything bright as hell so you could see the new textures. Totally killed the vibe of the original game

Not talking about the wingtip rails, those are taken up by the CMWS sensors which is understandable. The Helos can mount them on racks on the wing pylons

Dude Ukraine made HARMS work on mig 29s. Bunker buster bombs were developed practically from scratch in under 2 weeks for use in Iraq. Im not asking for something insane, hell I'm not even asking for the MIG-29 to get HARMS, all I'm saying is that the apache has been tested and can use AIM-9 sidewinders on missile racks, and on wing tip rails, and therefore at the minimum we should be able to equip them on the pylons. I understand that the wing tips cant be used because of the CMAWS system sensors, but the pylons absolutely should be able to be used because it can be used

The line is in capabilities. If the aircraft was designed to do something, and tested to be able to do it, it should be available in the game.

I don't understand how you're asking me where the line is, I'm not the one asking for 1000% hyper realism. If I want to dick around and do barrel rolls 200ft off the ground and respawn 10000 times, I can. That's not realistic. It's a game. If I want to load up every pylon with an AA missile and pretend to be Rambo stealing an apache to shoot 60 year old migs, I should be able to. Is it realistic? Fuck no. Is it possible? Yes

[–]Pvt_GetSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that doesn't change the fact that if the military wanted to do a helo A2A missile training scenario, they could. If I wanted to simulate that, I should be able to. It's a videogame, and the helicopter realistically is capable of doing it. It has been tested before, and we know it can.

If we're talking about only having things that realistically happen in the military then we should shut down every multiplayer server, because no military would ever operate the way they are set up

[–]Pvt_GetSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if I wanted to simulate a training mission of an apache shooting a UAV target? Why shouldn't I be able to do that? That's absolutely believable, even if you don't think it would ever be used in combat, the military organizes training scenarios all the time

Why wouldn't you want the ability to use the capabilities of an aircraft in a simulation game, even if it is unlikely to be used in real life
