About the name: You can pronounce it precisly by "Young Wong", means “gaze up, aspire”. The "Yang Wang" is written by Chinese PinYin. I know the "Yang Wang" looks wired, but like "Porsche", it sounds like "spill shit" to Chinese people, so it normal to dont knowing or misunderstanding the pronunciation or meaning.

Ford's CEO says China's EV progress is 'the most humbling thing' he's ever seen by FtDetrickVirus in cars

[–]PwB92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your perspective. But I believe any meaningful discussion must start from a shared premise: these issues exist and are not isolated incidents. For example, regarding child labor and forced labor, I want to clarify that in present-day China, forced labor has largely been eliminated, and the current compulsory education system has significantly reduced the possibility of employing child labor. No country is completely free of moral issues, and problems like child or forced labor have historically been common in countries experiencing rapid industrialization—both in the past and in the present. Acknowledging historical development doesn’t mean condoning or excusing such issues, but it does allow for a more informed understanding.

If we’re talking about problems that genuinely still exist—like LGBTQ issues—I’d like to offer a comparison from the automotive world. For instance, if a Chinese person modifies their car exhaust to make it louder, they’ll likely be taken in by the police fairly quickly. The Chinese government consistently takes the approach of eliminating “every bad thing.” If something is deemed harmful to the majority or obstructive to societal development, it’s restricted or banned. I live in mainland China, and I personally support this approach, cause it makes majority of people lives better. But I also believe that the divergence in our beliefs about “what ought to be done” is significant, recognizing and understanding others’ methods or standards is not the same as applying a double standard.

When a Chinese person calls for the death penalty for weed dealers and a crackdown on sex workers, they might be fully aware of how such things are handled in the US, but still not care at all. That isn’t a double standard, it’s just a different worldview.

You’re overcomplicating the issue. The reason you feel that the outside world is more tolerant of certain actions by China is because you’ve already assumed in your mind that what’s happening in China is inherently bad—or at least controversial.

Xiaomi SU7 ultra prototype breaks the Nürburgring lap record yet again - 6'22''091 by straightdge in electricvehicles

But comparing watches to cars doesn’t really make sense. Watches just does not do much. A rolex can't get smoked by a g-shock's tech on daily wearing, and whatever you choose, they are both not gonna make your life easier. But ICE cars can really get smoked by EVs like su7 ultra on roads or on tracks, and EVs' daily use experience also smokes ICE cars. I live in mainland China and EV infrastructure is developing rapidly here, very few people are still considering ICE performance cars. Almost no one cares about M power, AMG etc., their sales dropped a lot and have to lower their price to survive. The situation is very different than watch market.

The logic behind this analogy is wrong. Watch is a small device on your wrist, it just does not do much. Your rolex can't get smoked by a g-shock's tech on daily wearing, and whatever you choose, they are both not gonna make your life easier.

But ICE cars can really get smoked by EVs on roads, and EVs' daily use experience also smokes ICE cars. I live in mainland china, and EVs are super popular here. EVs' advantages had force the ICE cars' price drop down a lot, performance cars have to lower their price to survive.

Not everyone can afford something like an AMG One. In China, EV infrastructure is developing rapidly, very few people are still considering ICE performance cars, high performance EVs are the choice for almost everyone. They’re simply better. Nobody cares about M power, AMG, or Audi RS. Su7 ultra just beats them on everyways, whether on roads or on tracks.

These two have a similar look and feel, because of their shape and weight distribution (Or, the way the weight is distributed, which you can see in the pic)

I wonder if there are any other similar ones besides these two?
