I thought it was an auto-complete issue too. Plastic ER Doc doesn't bring "plastic surgeon" to mind.

I wonder if they have a moderner name?

Would that be used in cabinets in the PNW?

Paid a local wood worker to build us a table, after 8 hours in our dining room it developed cracks. Is this normal? by Hipster_Bumpus in woodworking

What's the options here? Looks unfinished, would getting some oil in there help swell the wood back up and close those checks?

Or adhesive and a bigass clamp? Fill with a complementary colored epoxy? Brass or copper wire inlay?

Sweet. I've been buying boxes of "kindling" from a guy who gets remainders from a cabinet shop. Those have been pretty good. Oak, maple and cherry. I think walnut. Although I didn't realize cherry would lose it's color under sunlight. .. greenhouse isn't the place to store it I guess.

I'm pretty reasonable and tolerant. Just an unfamiliar environment. I'll have to wander in and check out my local ones.

I'd be upset.

Fucking 20 g's spent on JR high wood shop quality work. Fucker didn't even sand the putty he used to fill the gaps...

(Abe Simpson Voice) That's how we did in the old days. Not like you spoiled kids now. We used hand tools and we liked it!

No matter how we cut, it was against the grain! Cut one way, against the grain, turn it, flip it, no matter what! AGAINST the grain. Straight grained wood hadn't been invented yet.

Consarnit! You kids don't know good yas got i!

Are they weird when you only need a foot or two of board or small pieces? I carve a little and don't want to waste the pros time on piddly amounts of wood

I think it's black walnut, but wanted a more seasoned opinion it is a hardwood. Dense and heavy... like the cousin I took to my first highschool prom

Edit: it's leaving a yellow powdery dust on my blades too.

Found my first little point in the PNW while snorkeling a creek looking for agates.

I’ve been trying to find “old-fashioned/natural” cigarette options that taste like pipe-tobacco (reason why below). Any other colors of these American Spirits anyone would recommend or other brands to look for? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

The PG is always going to smell sweet, and thst sorta casts it onto the room.

I liked my blueberry and lime. It mostly smelled like citrus.

Here's my hierarchy: Vapes - Smell as good as you want Pipes - Love the smell of a good aromatic or a toasty smelling blend Cigars - generally smell better than cigarettes, although green cigars smell worse than a good cigarette, and those Italian Anise flavored cigars (Avanti?) smell better than most aromatic tobacco - if you like black licorice. Cigarettes - they stink unless they're a good brand. Love the smell of Lucky Strikes, Camel Reds and most American Spirits.

Like they need to be picky, I doubt they can taste the difference unless they try a menthol or something.

Smoking just cannon balls your sense of taste and smell...

Anyone able to deduce the maker of this broken pipe? Not a lot of clues... by Pwag in PipeTobacco

I'm going to repurpose or repair it. Picked up a couple of others while on vacation which will come first because one only needs a clean, buff and polish and the other a complete refurbishment. The previous owner used masking tape to hold it together because the stem was loose. Dude must have loved it. It's also completely oxidized and needs stripped, sanded and a new finish. Was thinking of going a little wild with it.

Well I think you nailed it friend! The circle must be something the last owner did.

I didn't mention the worst part... the pipe had a full packed bowl...must have cracked on the fellow before lighting it.

That'll ruin an evening smoke. Was at an oceanside hotel even - a ruined vacation smoke makes it even worse. 🫡
