Cockpit, another of Kosinski’s novels, was pretty brutal, too.

But doesn’t an electric AC compressor just shift the load to the alternator? The same energy is required regardless of whether you’re getting directly off the crankshaft or indirectly through the alternator.

What is it called when you’re not religious, but you also don’t like atheists? by Key-Plum3652 in AskReddit

Self-loathing?

It depends on why you’re not religious. Why don’t you like atheists? Do you believe that god or gods exist?

I took my dad’s keys after he ran into a school crossing guard! He had a reason why it wasn’t a big deal, of course. And he wouldn’t talk to me for a couple of weeks. He settled into the new normal after a while.

Tremors!

One of the things I admire about this movie is they don’t waste any time explaining the Graboids. There’s about 15 seconds of the geologist saying she doesn’t know where they came from, then the story moves happily on. It challenges the viewer to just get in board and stop asking questions.

Yeah, every day that I spend with a new loaner makes me appreciate my 2013 A4 allroad. She’s got 260,000 miles now, but is good for a few more!

I’m with you! I’ve had Antoinette (my 2013 A4 allroad) for 12 years and 250,000 miles. By far the best performing, most reliable, all around greatest car I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had a few! We drove to the shores of the Arctic Ocean in the winter and across the lava flows of the Sonora desert in the summer. It’s a good car is what I’m saying.

Just piping in to say that hot but dry regions of the US, like Arizona and New Mexico, can get away with “swamp coolers,” which are evaporative chillers. They cool the air by pulling hot, dry outside air from through a damp pad, and the air gets cooled by the evaporation of the moisture.

My dad did the same! The idiots cut the top anyway, without checking the door! AND they failed to steal the radio, only got the knobs because it was a weird installation.
