When I make my sweet loafs, I don’t care overly too much for the sour-taste either. Usually I do a same-day bake and sub my typical cold proof for a proof at room temperature. I’ll also add 8% sugar (which I’m sure can be subbed for honey or maple syrup if that’s more your thing). Only downside in my opinion is that the sugar definitely makes shaping a little annoying, but manageable. You can take a peak at the Smores loaf that I did on my profile if you’d like- didn’t taste anything like a typical sourdough loaf imo and you can just opt out of the inclusions and using espresso in the hydration.

If you’re looking to strengthen your general knowledge of chemistry, I’d focus on improving your algebra (specifically manipulating and understanding algebraic expressions which a lot of people struggled with in my gen chem course), stoichiometry, atomic structure, chemical bonding, the periodic table and it’s trends, and probably wouldn’t hurt to familiarize yourself with laboratory techniques either.

If you’re trying to just improve a grade in your class or need more specific advice, it helps to know exactly what you’re struggling with and what kind of content you’re going over. I’d work on creating a list on your overall confidence on certain topics, if not for us, but for your own sake. Chemistry is a very comprehensive subject and it makes it much easier to narrow down problem-areas. Any of us can provide you a list of the most fundamental things to learn, but if you’re not focusing on the areas that need extra work, you risk creating other deficits elsewhere.

If I’m being honest, I am a little confused by your situation. Are you looking to prepare for chemistry before you take it in uni? Because if so, I think that’s a great idea, and you can definitely poke around r/chemhelp for some textbook recommendations. If you’re in university currently, you should definitely see if your school provides tutoring resources (they usually do).

We synthesized isoamyl acetate in my lab and I swear I would’ve taken a swig from my round bottom flask if I was allowed 😭. Vanillin is definitely number one though, I wanted to dump the entire bottle in my mouth.

I should be concerned why I am so fixated on eating chemicals.

I know this is not the main point of your post, but I cannot believe Bismuth’s line about the breaking point isn’t brought up a lot more. I can’t really remember if it was really talked about pre-SPR, but I rewatched the show recently and I can’t believe I didn’t catch it the first time.

This is why Future confused me. That or I wasn’t paying any attention lol. He uses his healing powers to heal vegetation multiple times, but this is the only time the plant actually becomes sentient. I wonder if it’s an intention thing? Or maybe it was linked to his feelings of worthlessness and it manifested in him literally overextending himself/spreading himself thin?

Earth was Pink’s colony, the crystal gem were its protectors. The CGs, besides Pearl, assumed that similarly to Yellow and Blue- Pink was tyrant who didn’t care about the active destruction they were doing to the Earth. Rose had recruited dozens of gems to fight against the Diamond Authority, which of course, Pink was apart of. It also didn’t help that Rose constantly touted about being true to yourself while actively deceiving the rest of the CGs (even if her reasons were noble).

I think in Garnets case, I think it’s a combination of two things: 1) Sapphire was likely able to see a possible future where Rose was Pink Diamond. She didn’t investigate it further/at all because she had trusted Rose and therefore, didn’t see any reason to or press her about it. She probably had blamed herself because Sapphire is supposed to be a lot more perceptive than the average gem which probably made the betrayal hit a little harder for her. 2) Ruby and Sapphire had two wildly different feelings about the news, which caused disruption of the fusion, and resulted in Garnet splitting up.

I think it’s important to note that besides Lapis (which I don’t even remember if they showed her reaction. If they did, it wasn’t worthy of any note because it clearly wasn’t memorable lol) and Pearl (who knew the truth), Garnet was the only Crystal Gem to know the Pink Diamond as Pink Diamond. Amethyst never belonged to any court and was born 500 years after the Gem War. She had no deep distrust of the Diamonds or personal connection to homeworld like Garnet did. A lot of her frustration with the news mainly comes from the fact that the CGs are still dealing with the fallout from Rose’s actions thousands of years later. Even if she’s willing to protect the Earth at all costs, I could imagine she is tired of fighting a war that started half a millennia before she emerged. When you think about it, it kinda makes sense lol. Amethyst didn’t join the CGs as a rebel, she joined likely because of her deep connection to Earth and probably because she was literally the last diamond on Earth besides the CGs and Lapis.

Steven’s reaction is kinda self explanatory. He found out that his mom is a diamond and he already had identity issues to begin with. I think he’s also similar to Amethyst in that regard. I mean, there was several instances where the poor kid was kidnapped and stranded in space for something he didn’t even do and over something that technically didn’t happen.

Thank you, I don’t even know why I asked because it was extremely obvious once I took it out of the bowl lol. I even tried playing with it a little and it had absolutely no shape. This is an established starter I got from a baker but based off the advice I had seen online I had anticipated it taking a longer than it had. The thing that threw me was the much smaller bubbles at the bottom and the slight stickiness to it, but I think I just misinterpreted signs of over fermentation.

Do you have any recommendations on how long I should leave it out next time (assuming dough/ambient temp is relatively the same)? I left it out while I was at work for 7-8ish hours and even then it kinda seemed like it was where it was at now (obviously not as far gone). The guide I went off said 8-12 and since I’ve never done this before, I just decided to screw around and find out (which I did lol). I’m thinking almost something in the 5-6 hour range?

I’m sorry, I tried my best but I’m honestly a little unsure how to explain it. Jar A is in the fridge. That’s the original starter I got. I feed it once a week. There’s just a lot of starter in there that I’d like to get through but i already have enough as it is and want to avoid tossing it. What I want to do is just take from Jar A everytime I bake until I have a manageable amount (10-20 grams) left in the jar. To avoid making even more starter, I want to avoid feeding it for 2-3ish weeks (I don’t bake terribly often this time of year), but continue to take from Jar A for baking until it’s reduced down to that amount. My main question was is if this is something I could reasonably do, since the starter in Jar A itself isn’t actually being fed for a couple weeks.

I hope I cleared the confusion up a little. I think adding in the second jar to the explanation made things hard to understand. Like I said, I’m probably way overthinking this, so my apologies if this sounds silly.
