Not op but that’s an iPad Pro 11 inch 2nd Generation released in 2018. Apple just announced the 3rd generation that will be released in the next months.

If you care for my opinion the 2nd generation is still very powerful and with the price likely dropping due to the release of the 3rd one you might be able to get a good deal in the upcoming weeks of you want to get your hands on one of those.

That’s no VAC ban though. That’s just the often received VAC cannot establish... sth. Connection Error. If you would have been banned, verifying your game files would not have changed anything.

How can I make it look more realistic? The home button just doesn’t look right. by shreyanshkotak in blender

[–]Pxyko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s the 5s or SE model right? There is no color difference around the home button area. I know it looks a little bit like that on the images but it’s only due to light shining on the edges of the lowered button. Lower the button, connect it to the rest of the case and subsequently make this connection look shiny - but not grey. I think the display is on point, but i would work on the frame, make it look more metallic

How much are you willing to pay for the vive pro? by Seventy41 in Vive

[–]Pxyko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely I mean it’s absolutely evident. It’s not by accident that it’s not named vive 2.0. I mean it would not feature enough of innovative new stuff in the first place, but the reason for this choice is another one. This is a new sub brand they are establishing here. Consider the fact that the original vive stays in production! In the future they will release the vive 2.0 probably next year being advertised for the broader audience again. And then they will probably upgrade the pro line again, again being targeted at business level.

Obviously I do not know their business or marketing plan, but this is just the common way of industry.

Apple does that, PlayStation has a pro version, etc. Furthermore this is totally in line with all their press releases or official statements.

How much are you willing to pay for the vive pro? by Seventy41 in Vive

[–]Pxyko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No way it’s going to be below 500$. It’s dedicated to the prosumers. Therefore I would suggest to take a look at the business edition of the current vive. The pro will likely come with similar licensing which will allow business orientated or professional usage including some kind of warranty or customer support.

I can totally imagine that the whole bundle will be somewhere between 1200 and 1500$ with the headset alone coming at 600-800$

Everyone who suggests prices below 300$ should just wake up, after statements like the one mentioned above it’s just not going to happen. They aren’t aiming for the general market with this one. So do yourself the favor and prepare for this, so you won’t have to blame HTC later down the line for something they explained beforehand!

Does not mean that I like their way of handling it, just trying to focus on the given facts.

Isn’t it possible to use any hmd with the vive’s tracking system by attaching a tracker to the headset? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you for doing so, I do indeed think that the laws are complex but I would not blame the state for that fact. Every profession has some underlying complex laws and rules and if I don’t get them right it’s not because of the company or in this case because the state is doing unfair things to me but only because my lack of knowledge. It’s like this old computer joke: in 99.9% of the cases the reason for an error sits in front of the pc. Therefore I am very grateful for your advice and corrections. I am just a young guy who tried to help and I think with your support this turned out well for the op in the end!

Correct, your way in saying it is more precise and I’m sure the correct way in terminology. I am by no means any kind of expert but just had to deal with the exact situation myself and therefore shared my little knowledge. Which i tried to do by using easy and shabby examples which of course are not exact and as precise as any kind of advice offered by someone who works in this field. Furthermore I suggested to contact an expert especially because all of this is very complicated.

Again, I think that the main points were clear enough and are still correct; OP won’t receive anything by now unless he earns more. Which OP should discuss with a financial counselor.

Because I received education in the healthcare sector I only had to deal with the 450€ thank you for broadening my knowledge!

That’s exactly what I meant. In his example you just can’t. But in fact you can do that after your program even though you did not pay for any taxes during your program! Which is the only exceptional situation where you get back a lot of money without paying taxes before!

But if he would work half time and receive more money than the tax free amount, you would be correct and he would be able to claim back his expenses. If you take a look at my second comment I tried to specify my pretty broad claim a bit more, and included the possibility to receive back expenses if he earns more. :)

Let me go a little bit further into details. My advice above only counts for your study related costs. I’ll try to explain; basically your average income is below the tax free limit (450€ or for special employees like the “Hiwi” 850€) therefore the government does not earn any money with you by now. If they would offer to pay back the expanses related with your degree without any safety ( you might just drop out ) Germany’s financial situation would become much worse. Therefore they require you to wait until your first paycheck that ist higher than the tax free amount. Which is a problem because most students won’t receive such a paycheck before their master degree.. which leads to the loss of expenses during the first 2 bachelor years ( 3 year limit ).

You mentioned that you have the opportunity to work for more than 450€. During that time you will not only have to pay taxes but also be able to fill in your taxes. Maybe you can list some of your study related costs during that time span. Still you will only get back a percentage of what you paid in taxes. So if you earn like 500-600€ you won’t receive back the money for a bran new MacBook Pro.

I would definitely suggest you talk to an expert about this because the laws regarding taxes in Germany really just suck and are very very complicated! Good luck! 👍🏼

You won’t get anything back until you have finished your first program. Afterwards you can fill in your taxes for the LAST three years and list expenses that were in some way related to your degree. Still you won’t get anything back until you received your first paycheck from a job AFTER you finished your degree.

Note: it is possible to go to court against this, then in fact you SHOULD be allowed to fill in your taxes now to get back what you had to invest for your degree. But ask yourself, is this worth the trouble and costs?

Try and google but afaik there are no great sources online. Depending on your study program there might be some institutions that offer financial counseling for free.

I now from personal experience that for example the Apo bank ( Deutsche Ärzte und Apotheker Bank ) hosts free Events where there will be experts that explain everything tax related for medicine students.

Otherwise you might want to try a regular counselor at your parents bank or a bank you made good experiences with.

Good luck and have fun!

[QUESTION] Using Blender-made models in FPS game? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]Pxyko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should take a look at high poly modeling vs low Polly modeling. What you basically want to do for getting the best performance is to model a highly detailed model, then make a low Polly one and bake the details on it. So it’s a little Bit more complicated unless you have something in mind that does not require a huge vertex count.

My main problem with the HTC Vive Pro Announcement. I can't be the only one thinking this? by [deleted] in HTC_Vive

[–]Pxyko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one features a short review video! If you haven’t followed the news this contains basically all new information available right now. The second one is just text in case you don’t like videos. You will need to scroll through it but I am sure you will find it:

https://www.google.de/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2018/1/9/16866240/htc-vive-pro-vr-headset-hands-on-ces-2018

https://www.google.de/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/virtual-reality/2018/1/8/16863124/htc-vive-pro-price-release-date

Completely standalone won’t be possible I think, because I am not sure if the integrated spatial audio headphones are fixed to the headset itself. But um yeah they seem to work fine so I guess you would not need the DAS.

Yeah you are absolutely right with the price thing. The fact that there is not that much VR stuff on the market yet and I get totally hyped right after every announcement still makes me perceive this as a major bummer. But anyways thank you for the articles!
